Let's say I had a Mustang with 400 RWHP. Through personal experience and word on the street, the dual friction Centerforce clutch just won't handle all that power til' high RPMs and even then is sketchy. But then the Spec stage III is just not that streetable. So what are the other alternatives? Educated Opinions anyone? thanks

Do you plan to launch on slicks?

A spec III is reasonably streetable in my ~300 rwhp car, with the extra TQ/HP of a 408w I'm sure you'll be able to get it to move in 1st, lol. Any other gear will be a breeze.

Thanks Shade-Tree. Sawson, no slicks.

With no slicks, it should just be a tire burner... so the SPEC 3 or 2 will do. The spec 3 may make for some 'accidental' tire chirps when trying to take off slow from a stop.

Ditto. That's what I would get.

Spec stage III. That's what I'm running on my car.

Our Dual Kevlar clutch setup is totally streetable, will handle 800hp and 10k rpm, and will last roughly 50% longer than your typical aftermarket clutch.
We've installed roughly 120 of these clutches in street and racing Mustangs, and everyone really likes it. (We use a similar version of it in our Viper packages as well.)
PM, email, or call me for more info and pricing!

I had Apex's clutch in my 450+ RWHP Saleen. It did everything he says it does...no complaints whatsoever.

Kinda off the subject but how much HP can a king cobra handle? [patriot]

How much? Oh and just curious but damn, what did you have in your Saleen? Just FYI all I am looking for a clutch for my Saleen right now not my Eleanor [Big Grin] .

Nothing special, just a lot of boost and fuel to match...then a right tune. The clutch is more than the typical price...but in my opinion it's worth it...just give them a call and ask, I can't remember off the top of my head.

I also have Apex's dual kevlar clutch in my S-351. Pedal effort is excellent. Less effort than my 86GT daily driver that is running D&D Performance's "heavy duty" setup. So far no clutch slipping with Apex's clutch setup.

went with the APEX clutch. The spec III have to be ordered and I am not that patient, especially since my dyno appointment is on this coming Tuesday morning at APEX. I also went with a Ford racing adjustable clutch quadrant while I was in there; I don't know about anyone else but my shifting going from my 91 5.0 to my 96 4.6 went from fast to really slow because of the pedal travel I assume.
