hey i was wondering if anyone had experience with both gears or either one. i have a 2001 gt and was wondering how much more power do you get off the line between the two and how much is the difference in driveability? i drive alot on the freeway. reply with some posts so i can decide. Also if anyone has a friend selling some used gears that would be awesome.

i got some 4.10's for sale 100$

My vote is for 4.10s. Thats what I'll be putting in my car. You will be running 3000rpm at 80mph. I think Justin knocked off 4/5tenths when he put 4.10s in his 01.

If you don't speed on the freeway, i.e. over 70 then 4.10's should be fine, but if you ever cruise at 80 or more than you shouldn't go with the 4.10's, 3.73's would work well then.

4:10's no doubt on a stang.

You can do it one of two ways:
1) Get the 3.73's and then wish you had gone with 4.10's or...
2) Get the 4.10's to start with and be happy

Just my two cents

well its been decided im goin to get 373's. now before u all yell at me for being a pussy and not doing 4 10's im doin it cause i like to mob on the freeway, like 90 always at minmum 80, and i dont think i could get myself to slow down on the freeway. its torture trying to keep it under 90. thanks everyone

I'd say 3:73's. I had them, and I loved them. If you ever add NOS or a S/C then you will be better off.

difference in rpms at 80 mph between 3.73s and 4.10s is about 200 rpms.
"mobbing" on the freeway at 140 should be easier in 3.73s, mob away [worship]

what about gas mileage, how much do those differ by. i usually get around 275 to a tank with my 327's, what would i see with 373's and 410's? And how bad do the gears affect top speed?

Be a Man.....get 4:10's if you wanted good gas milage.....you prolly would have thought this through and gotten a honda civic. But you got a stang so it can be fast.....get 4:10's

I'm going through this same exact debate in my head right now too.. Right now, with stock gears on my '00, I'm running high 13's... Can anyone tell me what they think I might run with 3.73's & 4.10's???

e-dogg: Hey man, what's up with your gears? I am interested.. Check your email.

You'd prolly drop a few tenths if ur lucky. Some gears might keep ur time the same or u might even be slower. Who knows. You'll jus have to go to the track and see.

My friend went from a 13.7 to a 13.5 in a 98 cobra, so like I said you'll see
I'm also thinkin bout the same thing

i found out the hard way i ran a 13.8 with my 4.10 gears i took them out cuz i like to mob on the freeway with my stock 3.27's i ran 14.3 now im thinking going 3.73 i didn't realize gears made such a huge difference

Is the reason for the same time due to a traction problem ya think? That's kinda what it sounds like, what with the higher trap speeds and all... ???? :???:

i know there is a guy out there with an 00 gt, with drag radials, MAF, Dr. Gas off road x, mufflers, 4.10s, and front sway bar removed, running a 12.90

I just put 3:73's in my 98 GT. Huge notice. I don't know what gears you have stock, but mine were 2:73'S. I took it to the track last wed. and my 60" went down by .2. (either spinning or bogging off the line...need some nittos) I do a lot of freeway driving too.... I cruise at 3000 RPM most of the time...at around 85. At75 mph it's around 2400. Go with the 3:73's, unless your deciding to put 6 gears in there.

Good luck.

275!!! [Eek!]
I usually get around 210-240 and i baby it *most* of the time. Do you drive the freeway alot???

Top speed can more likely be reached with a steeper gear ratio. With stock 327's my cobra could do(if it had that kinda power)230mph...Even with 373's it'll do over 200mph(only because I get extra 1000rpm's over you).
