Has anyone ever put one of the 140amp Powermaster altenators on a 88 5.0. I thought that they would have the pug in style conetions like the stock altenator, but it doesn't. If so, exactly how did you modify the conetors to work.

There are 2 ways of installing a PowerMaster. One way is to use the factory wiring & there should be instructions that came with the alt.
The other way is the 1 wire hook-up. Very easy, just one wire from the Alt to the possitive of the Battery. Make sure it's at least 8 guage, perferably 4.

the powermaster alternator comes with the wire for the 1 wire hookup, atleast if you order from Summit. The install is easy and the alternator is much stronger. You might need to grind very little off the bracket and pound in the alternator with a lead hammer or rubber mallet a little to align the holes but it's easy. You do have to rev it to about 1700 for the alternator to turn on though when you start the car but other than that, no complaints.
