Back in november I got my oil changed and told the guys to put penzoil in it. Little did I know that they put synthetic penzoil it in because that was the only penzoil that they carried. Since november, my car has started leaking oil, or at least, a noticeable amount has started leaking, and its the rear main seal that is leaking. I am just trying to figure out if the two instances are related or if it is a pure coincidence. If anybody has any information or knows anything, please let me know.

It is not uncommon for synthetic oil to 'leak' in a motor with some miles on it.

Switch back to conventional and you should be ok.

My 5 liter picked up a teeny oil leak in about 2 places since it's been run on synthetic. On conventional, wouldn't leave a drop.

Also, with the rear main seal leak, if I switched to a 10-30 rather than a 5-30, would that possibly slow the leak at all? Thanks guys

yes. I don't know how thick you want to go though, e.g. people have run 20-50 when desperate.

I'd run 5-30 and see what happens myself, go up if necessary. oil changes are sooooo much easier than pulling the rear main seal!
