160 is probably too much, and increases cylinder wear. Of course if it's a race only car, and your cooling system is not up to par, you might *need* the 160, but that's only a stop-gap fix. In that case you actually need a better cooling system. More fan, bigger radiator, etc.

but if its a EEC controled '94+ electric fan, the only thing a 180 thermo will do is make warm ups take a bit longer, since the EEC will still wait until 192ish degrees to turn on the fans
