Well for those of you who have been here for a while you know i usually setup at least one big cruise during the day each year, and one night time run. With multiple build projects over the last 2 years i have been slacking on planning, but finally the time has come. I have our day run figured out, with the night one to come shortly thereafter. This run will be posted on multiple sites including SVTOA, CA Mustangs and Sac F-Bodyz and hope to top my last years turnout which had roughly 70 cars.

Basically this run will be dubbed the "Grown Man Cruise" as it is something different than the normal bbq or other runs we make. We will be heading up to Clear Lake to our destination at the Ceago Winery in Lake County. I have been there twice now and with the combination of long freeway stragiths, twisties through the hills, and gorgeous scenery of the winery directly on the lake it will definitely not disappoint. I have been in contact with the event planner and she is more than happy to have us come down and do a tasing. For those of you who have never been wine tasting, or have experience doing so it will be the perfect run. Also for you fellas who want to show your lady you have a litle more culture than just wrenching feel free to bring them out.

Tentatively i have scheduled to have the cruise on September 4, 2011 which is a Sunday. I have planned it far in advance so everyone from Sac to the Bay will have time to put away a few bucks for gas, and a few of us can debut our long projects. The tasting will be $5.00 per person and includes 5 different wines of your choice. If you love driving your car then this is the perfect cruise. As i guage interest i can figure out who will lead groups from different areas and setup meet points and time. I would like to be at the winery around 11:30 am so we would all need to get rolling between 8 - 8:30 to meet up and get there. Post up if you are interested and lets make it a good one. I hope to establish a good rapport with the winery and make this a yearly run. They host Porsche and Corvette club runs all the time so I think some Ford love would be good. Here is a link to the winery and i will post up some pics i took there last year.

**FYI I will be using this run to break in my motor so it is not designed to be a gumball 3000 run. Of course we will have fun, but my Career in law enforcement and a lot of other stang owners is based on their driving record. If anyone plans on jeapordizing that by being a jack nut i will glady hand over your plate number and physical description myself. This is not for the immature.**

21 to drink, but not to ride along with us. The winery itself is beautiful though so you guys will have a good time regardless. Wine tasting is done in small portions and slowly so nobody will be faded. Unless your a lightweight

Nice planning T! This is too far in advance to determine whether I can make it or not, but I'm tentatively a YES! Sounds like fun...but also sounds HELLA FAR! I've never been to Clear Lake so I have no clue where it's at, but hopefully I can make it out! [patriot]

It never hurts to have a "support vehicle" on a long cruise.

This is already panning out to be a good one... lots of good people planning on going.

I'm in T! Im digging the "grown man" theme. The drive up to clear lake is pretty sick. We will have plenty of scenery and open roads. I'll have to bring out the wifey on this one. As long as she is not hung over from the Giants game the day before. That's our wedding anniversary weekend, 11 years! To be honest I have been staying away from most cruises because of the age gap of newer members, but this sounds fun, and I'm always down for a little Vino. Let me know if you need any help with the East Bay guys. I think it would really help if use walkie talkies like a Motorla "talkabout" since cell phone coverage is kind of spotty up there, especially if you don't have Verizon. Everybody should make sure their car is tip top for this one.

When I read the title I was bummed about the drinking. Then I saw the date and it's one day after my birthday so I'll be 21!!!!!!!! Perfect... Count me in so long as my car is not blown/down by then. It will have a hard-lived summer. I'll most def spreading the word. I understand where you are coming from with people having careers that require spotless records. I work here at UPS and MUST have a clean driving record. The countdown begins now!!!

I'll take off from work for this one. I should be done with my build by then. I too plan to be in law enforcement. But there are always going to be people driving reckless. It's like a party they can't wait to crash.

That sounds like fun. I'll be there in something. If there is anyone who wants to make a weekend out of it Lakeport is 20 minutes from Ceago and Ukiah is about 35 minutes. If anyone wants to head over the hill to Ukiah I'll set something up for booze and food that night.

Sounds like a plan! I like the 'grown man' theme, primarily because I got too much grey hair! Also, it's in my neck of the woods. I'll bring the wife, top will be down and the turbo will be spoolin'! We don't drink but I'll get drunk on the sight of all the killer Mustangs!
Count me in!

Me and a few guys are thinking of going to Konocti Harbor and going wakeboarding/tubing.. Last time I was there was 2 years ago.. I used to go there every summer when I was a kid and it will be cool to hit the twisties in the stang... [Whoo Whooooo!] [Whoo Whooooo!] [Whoo Whooooo!]

Damn fellas this is looking good already. Someone suggested to me that we look into walkie talkies in the event of bad reception. What do you all think?

JR: Looking forward to seeing your car again man. Hopefully i can get that Cobra R antenna delete from you finally

triple b: Im sure your exhaust will be good. My SLP wont be quiet either.

Snakebit Bro it has been a while since i saw you out. I figured with us all getting older its time we cruise in the same fashion.

Cali95GT & Sonic96: Good to hear you two are rolling. Be nice to finally put faces to names. Sonic where are you looking to go with Law Enf.?

1994Steeda: I will probably take you up on that offer to help organize that group from San Jose.

Adower Hey bro maybe we can mount a Go Pro to your motorcycle and have you film part of the cruise. I shoud have my M1 by then so i can try that thing out.

Taildragger Hey bro can you tell me more about food options in that area?

evintho Always good to have someone with a BOV in the mix. Your build came out pretty clean didnt it? i recall you posting pics a while back.

Camarokid Z/28 Man i dont think i have ever seein you out at a cruise. maybe one of the old car shows. Make it if you can bro.

GT,0519 Good to see you bringing some S197 love

Venomous Pony Trust me bro the wine tasting is something you will enjoy. Even if your not a big wine fan, it will expose you to some things you may have never had before. Plus the wife will love the lake

Lets keep it rolling. Im getting good interest from other sites as well. I will update the names and such here soon.

Same here. Although I seen you recently wasted on the board, haha, hard times,. We all been there... I'm looking to either be a P/O so I could chill, dress casual, drive a nice sports car to work, help people back on their feet and keep them out of trouble. Or I'm looking into patrol. I'll problably be breaking in my motor also. Hopefully I'll have some nice paint too but still a working progress though. I won't be all the way done. But I should be close.

I have been doing the route planning and pretty much have it figured out. The sacramento area and any of the bay guys who dont mind driving will meet with us at the In/Out burger in woodland to meet up. Then from there we will make a stop near the 505 to pick up anyone from the bay area, and onto the winery. But I do have a quick question....

The question i have is whether or not we should take I-5 to the 20, or Cut across Highway 16 to the 20? Has anyone driven on Highway 16? I will try to scout it in the next weekend or two if nobody has driven it. It looks like its nice though. The only reason for taking 16 is that it may have more twisties, and be a more direct route for the bay area guys. Sounds like a win win situation, but i do normally take I-5 to the 20.

Posted by stangin' (Member # 514) on :

put me down as a tentative yes. i haven't been on a cruise in ages. this sounds fun! making this a "mature" cruise is what i prefer.

east bay guys, we should set up a destination point to head out together.

Posted by 50 Deep (Member # 6216) on :

Vin I got you bro..

Looks like we will be taking I-5 to the 20. highway 16 is a 1 lane with stop signs and it will kill our progress.

***Cruise Route Info and Map***

Ceago Winery Cruise Map

Ok Ladies and Gents here we go. The Sacramento area will be meeting at the Arco Arena/Power Balance Pavillion off of I-5 and Arena. We will pull in off of E Commerce way and pull into the small industrial center on the right. We should have enough space to park and then easily jump bakc on the freeway. If we run out of room we can simply pull into the Arena right behind it. There are gas stations to fill up at on the opposite side of the freeway. We will meet here at 8:00am and depart at 8:30am . I should be there about 7:45.

Bay Area Folks we will be meeting up with you on I-5 right after the 505 freeway intersects it. This is being done so none of you have to travel into sacramento. Simply cut up the 505 until it dumps onto I-5 and we will all meet at the Chevron station on exit County Road 6. This is also a large truck stop so we will have space to park and people can gas up. We should be reaching the station at 9:15 am and will depart at 9:45 am

From here we will make our way up I-5 and exit Highway 20 Clear Lake/Colusa and move towards the lake. When we exit on 20 there is a Shell station right off the freeway that anyone heading from up North or Clear Lake can wait for us at. We shouldnt need to stop for fuel since we will all be leaving a gas station, but anyone who needs to can. We will be passing by this location about 10:15 am and then onto the twisties, Clear Lake, and Ceago which we should hit at about 11:15 - 11:30 am

Once we hit the winery we can chill, taste, and decide what we would all like to do. There are a few members and a guy from SVT Performance who is familiar with the area. I will be talking with them about a nice place to eat or cruise around the lake after. Everyone is welcome to join. Luckily it looks like the bay area guys can take some nice roads down from the lake that will go through Berryessa, Napa, and down Highway 12 back to Fairfield.

my car will be done but I may not take it on the trip cause of the lack of E85 stations....plus, final tune won't be complete until Sept 17th now....not taking my car out on a base tune...

so yeah, I'm riding cup cake withTerrence with a 1080p cam in 1 hand and go pro attached to the other side...

Sweet I love the way bikes look in my mirrors!!! Hahaha no but my car won't be broken in and E85 stations may be a concern to me too. Maybe I can figure a way to add a gas can setup in the trunk! Good way to break in the new motor as long as all the parts are here by then! And money does come my way. Still have a fairly large list of parts to order! Time be flying!!!

T, as always well organized and thought out. I will try my best to join you guys for this for my once a year appearance, lol.

You know, since there will be a lot of guys coming from the Peninsula, South Bay, and East Bay, the In N Out in Pinole might not be a bad spot to meet up at 7:45AM and roll out at 8:15AM on the way to the Chevron on County Rd 6/I-5.

This way the Bay Area fellas can have an additional hour of cruising together on the way north.

Alright everyone the big day is tomorrow. Make sure you check your brakes, fluids, and tires. I am getting an alignement today and changed the oil in the cobra last night. Now time to polish her up and get ready. Dave is bringing his Raptor with some tools and a low profile jack in case someone has some mechanical difficulties. At this point it looks like we will bring walkie talkies also to help communicate if people lose reception

***Also as an FYI for those who dont plan on wine tasting at least bring $5 to donate to Ceago Winery for having us out. Being that we will be 80+ deep and taking up their parking lot its just a small token of appreciation for them having us out. Especially since they cancelled other events just to have us there and as a business they need revenue to thrive.***

Damn fellas my bad for getting ghost. I went back to the ladies house after the cruise and stayed the night. Didn't have my phone charger and just got back home tonight. I had a blast riding up there and riding back on a nice lil improptu double date with dave and his wife.

Thanks to everyone who came out and hope you all had a good time. Did anyone take highway 12 back home?

Thanks for putting on the cruise Terrance, I had a good time despite being the only fbody that stayed around and not really knowing anyone. Maybe I can convince my friend to let me borrow her 03 Cobra to attend an event so I fit in.

Who owns the old school yellow mustang?

Ha ha. I know how you feel. I'm typically the dark horse. Not much sticks out more in a group of Mustangs than my Raptor. Before that, I was the oddball with the G8 GXP.

The '67 belongs to Talon (65mustang408).

I tried to film everyone driving by me at Shell on Hwy 20. I've never filmed anything before and the camera is super old; so sorry for the Blair Witch Project style video. So how do I post it here...link to YouTube?

Thanks Saleen Girl for the video! Lunch was great, to bad we split up, you would have had fun on the twisty roads to Napa and Berryesa. I had this little Mazda on my ass the whole time! [burnout]

Yeah, it was nice meeting you. We ended up driving over to Fort Bragg so I definitely got my fill of twisty roads. It was good practice for Thunderhill someday!
