4th annual "Stang Up The Bay" April 3rd, 2011

Stang Up Fam would like to invite CAFORDS to the 4th annual Stang Up The Bay as we celebrate the Mustang and promote positive Mustang enthusiasm around the Bay Area. With over 150 cars in attendance last year, this is one of the premier cruises in the Bay Area. All Mustang enthusiast and car clubs are invited.

Starting Points:

Sac Area: Ikea - 700 Ikea Ct, West Sacramento, CA 95605 meet up at 9:00 a.m. depart at 9:30 a.m.

Cen Cal Area: Sonics - 3080 N. Naglee Rd, Tracy, CA 95304 meet up at 9:45 a.m. depart at 10:15 a.m.

East Bay (rest and gas break 1hr): Walmart - 8400 Edgewater Dr, Oakland, CA 94621. meet up at 11:00 a.m. depart a 12:00 p.m.

South Bay (rest break 30min): Foothill College - 12345 El monte Rd, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 meet up at 12:45 p.m. depart at 1:15 p.m.

Route:

Sac Area: 80 to 880 to Oakland

Cen Cal Area: 205 to 580 to 238 to 880 to Oakland

East Bay: 880 to 237 to 85 to 280

South Bay: Foothill College to Skyline BLVD to 92 to 280 to Pier 39

On a cruise this long, when a car breaks down do the people throwing it help out or do they just ditch them? What happens when they get to the pier? It's over?

Thanks for asking,

On a cruise this large we don't stop it for a car or two, but we do have cruise guides that will pull to the side to check if everyone is ok.

When we arrive at the pier we take a loop around fishermans warf and then park in one of the garages near there. After that most of are pretty hungry and from there you're on your own. We usually grab a bite to eat out there

Everyone normally parks on the top floor in the very first parking garage on embarcadero. After that point, everyone is petty much on their own. Most hang out in s.f. and spend some time on pier 39.

This looks to be another one of you guy's exceptional outtings. I am way past due for a cruise and the ZO6 has been covered too long. The GM folks always seem to drag their @$$es when it comes to getting the first cruise of the year going.

If none of y'all object, the weather's good and no 'life emergencies' crop up, I like to tag along at the end of the line.
At least I could keep 87droptop50 company in his SS.

yeah it's in the forecast right now. Although it has been moving in the right direction. Think positive and hope it leaves the forecast, but if it doesn't. We'll make a determination whether to reschedule or go ahead by Thursday night or Friday.

Stang Up The Bay has been rescheduled to Sunday April, 3rd due to heavy rain in the forecast. NO EVENT THIS SUNDAY.

damn if no one would mess it up with donuts and burn outs all the mustangs showing up to that would be nothing but a good look on mustangs owners on top of that maybe our cars would draw people in to help as well

What if we make a stop on the peninsula for food. And it sounds like its gonna be a big show and the rest of the pier will be blocked off so they're won't be much space to swang em.

Judging from past cruise, we'll arrive in S.F. around 4. If this fundraiser ends at five, there won't be any time to stop other than at the embacadero.

we'll work this fundraiser into cruise some way or another. at the very minimum we'll notify everyone at the cruise about this fundraiser and give them the option to pull in once we go by or circle back. My reservations on ending the cruise here is that it increases the probability of folks doing donuts. If ONE donut happens on this cruise, that's it. And everyone knows, all it takes is one.

the concord meet up spot i was thinkin it can be @ the taco bell in port chicago and olivera since is right out the freeway and it has a big parking lot 2475 Olivera Road, Concord this is the address for that place here some directions

4. Take the PORT CHICAGO HIGHWAY exit, EXIT
5. Turn LEFT onto PORT CHICAGO HWY
6. Turn RIGHT onto OLIVERA RD.

I want to thank everyone that plans to attend the 4th annual "Stang Up The Bay" set for 04/03/2011. All joking aside, I want to remind everyone that a lot of planning, time, effort, and money goes into putting on this event (we take it personal). With that said, remember that donuts, racing or any sideshow activity will not be tolerated at this event. This event has been "incident free" for 3 years and each year it has grown because it has been "incident free". There was a fat gap(like minutes apart) and cruise got separated, so if someone was back there and understands what happen. Let me know so we can try to find ways to not let it happen again. Good turnout but to be honest, that route we took after the college meetup was terrible..way too many cars to take on that one way narrow road. I was driving about 3 mph up hill with a race clutch..shit wasn't fun at all..I turned around along with a lot of other cars who were complaining of the same thing. On my way down cars were at a stand still not even moving..I would suggest hoping on 280 from that spot next year to go to s.f. but Jus my opinion..

Thanks for the feedback. Every year it hasn't been a problem. Last year with 150, it went smoothly. Don't know how it became a problem this year besides the point you brought up. If we do this again next year, you're analysis is probably right. Foothill college, straight to 280 and then to S.F. Thanks again and thanks for coming out.

Was in the front then stopped at the lil gas station (didnt have bfrast lol n well my leg was killing me thanks to up hill drive) but yea a lot of heads stopped at that spot n left at diffrent times. I had my burrito n left about 30min aftr wen I left three others did aswell n some were just going back.. So to my opinion the long road drive was a lil too much.. That's unfortunate, and the only thing I can think of that slowed the line down that much was an extremely slow driver and/or a stalled car. Since I wasn't in the back and couldn't see any further back than 7-9 cars, I can only assume. But when i got to Skyline BLVD, that's all that was behind me, 7-9 cars. So someone early either intentionally slowed the line down or a car broke. The past 3 years, no problems. 150 cars last year did it smoothly. So you guys can understand what I mean when I say "something happen". It's unfortunate because it takes the fun out of the day and the cruise. That someone can't keep up or intentionally slows the line down. But if someones car broke, then that's understandable and we'll find ways to remedy that next year by either cutting out portions of the hills or cutting it out all together. I have video of cars going up the hill in line, after revue I'll have an idea of which car or cars slowed the line down by about 10+ minutes.

I'm getting reports of 2 5.0's that brokedown:
One was minor and the other needed water, tranny fluid and a jack. We had a sweeper on this event and that's all he saw. From the PM's I'm getting, from what you guys are telling me, from what my members are telling me what they saw and from what my sweeper told me. I'm getting a general idea of what happen. So any of you guys saw anything else that seemed weird like. Why is that car in front of me moving so slow and there's no one in front of him, send me a pm or post it up. Thanks.

Ok, so after review of video and from reports from my members and members on this forum. The conclusion I have come up with is a stalled car in the beginning of the line caused the whole line to slow down or even stop. So it's unfortunate that most of you got caught up with that, but it was just one of those things.

+1000 on that! Great turn out! Fun ride down to Mountain View but after that it was nothing but bumper to bumper traffic. I made it around that first 10 mph turn and headed back. My car is definitely is not made for 3-5mph hill climbs. Next year more freeway [patriot]

Yeah sounds like something we might have to do. A car stalled early and up front in the line which caused everyone behind them to stop or creep. It's unfortunate you had to experience that, but a remedy is in place for next year. Thanks for coming out.
