I've been thumbing around the sacramentoraceway.com page looking to refresh my memory on some rules:

1.) The website shows that cars faster than 14.00 need a helmet, but I see nothing mentioned about verts (it used to be that they required a roll-bar). Is there no distinction being made anymore between hardtops and verts? So a vert can run in the 12's with no bar?

2.) What is the rating requirement of a helmet? Sac's site just shows "SFI" (which SFI is enough?)

3.) For Grudge, how many runs are guys typically getting these days? I notice the price dropped.

Thanks,
Luke

only thing keeping me from going currently is the convertible roll bar rule.

Here is the current helmet info:

For all 10.00 to 13.99 closed-bodied cars, either an open-face or a full-face Snell M2000, M2005, M2010, K2005, SA2000, SA2005,
SA2010, SFI 31.1A, 31.1/2005, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.1/2005, or 41.2A helmet with or without a shield is mandatory required.

For all 9.99 and quicker closed-bodied cars, a full-face Snell M2000, M2005, M2010, K2005, SA2000, SA2005,SA2010, SFI 31.2A or 41.2A helmet mandatory; shield permitted (goggles prohibited).

Snell 2000 exp 1-1-2012
Snell 2005 exp 1-1-2017
Snell 2010 exp 1-1-2022

As for the roll bar rule: Verts are good to 13.49 and require a bar beyond that. Hard top vehicles require a bar at 11.49.

Here is an NHRA quick reference table.

http://www.nhra.com/competition/etquickref.aspx

Grudge Night run numbers vary....I have had anywhere from 2 to 8 on Grudge Nights.

Thanks for the update.

Are you sure about the vert rule?

I don't see anything about that on Sac's site?

The Vert rule was changed in 09 I think, down from 13.99. This was done due to numerous factory cars surpasing these times off the showroom floor. 13.49 is an NHRA rule and should be standard at all tracks. PM Brandon on here for Sac Raceway tech specifics. He is the guy usually running the tree.

sorry i am late to the party. What notch guy said is true. We have been know to be farily lax on the rules from time to time. And in all honesty if you wanted to bring your vert out to a test and tune or grudge race, i am sure you can run into the 12's with out getting any crap from us

Thanks Brandon!

I assume slicks are permitted at Grudge?

Also, are motorcycle helmets ok as long as they are DOT/SFI approved? Anything specific on helmets I should be aware of?

Thanks
Luke

Luke,

Slicks are ok on Grudge Nights.

As for helmets, as long as your helmet is legal as per the Snell rating you will be fine. See the earlier post regaurding Snell ratings.

M = Motorcycle

SA = Sports Application (Autos)

K = Karting

Thank you, I somehow overlooked the above.

The Helmet I am looking at has a SA2000 rating.

Does this expire in 2012 for all applications, or just for cars running 9.99 or faster?

I don't want to buy a helmet that is good just for a year.

How strict are tracks about helmets that are legal but expired?

That helmet will expire in 2012. I would suggest buying a Snell 2005 rated helmet at the minimum. There are some good ones out there that are priced right.

Again, Brandonn would be the person to ask on Sac Tech concerning expired helmets. I know they have let it slide in the past on certain situations. I would assume the Tech guy would make the call based on the cars ET/MPH potential, and take things into concideration. I would bet on a Wed. night, an expired helmet would slide in a 13 second car.

helmets are one of the things all tracks are super strickt on, if something happens and you are a little to fast then they want us to send pics of the helemet and if its out dated your fired and the track is fubar so i would deff buy a snell sa2005 or m2005
