I took the car out to the track today just to see what happens when I add some 100 octane and add timing, (my ignition/electrical problem isn't fixed yet).

My first pass I missed 3rd gear but the car felt strong. That pass was a 11.8 @ 117. The next pass made for a new best ET, MPH and 60ft, (on DR's) 11.31 @ 122.2 with a 1.655 short time. Not bad for adding a little timing I guess...lol I ended up with a best MPH of 123.6, but the track was going away and the DR's weren't getting it done anymore.

I have a few changes in the works, so we'll see what happens the next few times at the track. [patriot]

BTW, it was also nice meeting a few new people from the board at the track today. How did you guys do?

Good Runs drew the car hooked good off the line! Very nice for the 18" DR's. Hopefully next time I can make it out there in my car, if I can get some Valve Springs. [burnout]

Thought you were getting them today?

Great job Drew! Straighten the tune, launch on real tires, and amaze us all!

You are not far off.
[worship] Yes, it is N/A. Very well thought out after LOTS of research.

I used to hear the same crap about my stock bottom end, 120k mile, 5.0 running 11's, flat 12's at 113-115 N/A.

another non believer. Good Job Drew.

You maybe that fast NA because I know it is possible to build a 450rwhp 347 NA but it must have cost you a lot of $$$, but since you choose not to list your combo...

1fast281- enjoy those 14's bro! [Razz]

it doesnt cost as much as u think, its just good parts in a well setup combo, well accept the tune [Razz]

and yes 450rwhp is close, he doesnt need nitrous

maybe u should put the cheater kit on the lincoln [Roll Eyes]

drew: does that 123.6 match or beat mike's best mph with what few parts you are still using of the motor [Frown]

but your car probably has 200lbs on his old hatch, but mike has atleast 150lbs on you [Razz]

I think he was saying he beat Mikes MPH cause I think Mikes was like 123.4 or somewhere in that area. All I got to say that it was pretty sweet standing like 5 feet from the car and seeing a 1.6 on DR's. You watch and wait for the tires to just spin and all they do is hook! like you said Eric, not bad for 18's!

Posted by 90GT (Member # 3) on :

I could be wrong but I thought Mike hit a 125 once with several 124's. Either way both are moving right along.

Mike's best MPH was 124.6 I believe, so he still has me for now. That setup was normally in the 123 range.

The only thing I reused from his 347 was the crank, rods and cam. Everything else was junked.

424rwhp, 416.1 rwtq

Thanks Mark, I knew I had him ET wise, just a little more to go for thet MPH though. I could make that a major margin in ET if I threw the slicks on, but I'll save those for later [Smile]

BTW it does take a little Cash and it takes alot of time and effort to come up with a N/A combo that runs that hard. Comaras car went through a few engines combos and wasted parts to get there. It hasn't been a cake walk for Drew either so don't take away from the effort it takes [Wink] Don't forget about the stuff that gets wasted behind a engine like that either. I run a G-force trans also they don't grow on trees LOL

Nice time for your 347. Sounds like your engine is running pretty damn strong! Hopefully by spring I can click off some low 11s when I get the air/fuel/tune stuff done. I have the same combo as Mike so I'm hoping for around 420.

no kidding, i remember mikes car when it was a cast crank 347 that didnt like being in one piece for very long, or the 100's of spec stage 3's [Razz]

drew has put up with a lot of shit to get where he is with this motor [worship]

Thank you to you and Mike for pointing that out. These ET's have been a LONG time coming. My motor doens't even have 1000 miles on it, so I suspect that it will only get faster *crosses fingers* [Wink]

hey whats up fellas, its been a while since ive been on this board. Good numbers drew, car should run real well when its all done!

Hey jeff if i get the kid to fix that tranny on the car I know he will let me run ya with the nitrous, nothing like a 150 shot on a poop motor to help a little. He cant really drive a stick to well and munched up fourth gear on the tremec. Hopefully after i move in to my new house this friday I will be able to get started on a new project, probably old school stang with a dart and some other goodies, but as everyone on this board knows its all about money!!

Posted by 66 AC COBRA (Member # 904) on :

wow back from the dead

havent seen the guy with your car in quite a while

is he that bad at shifting that he was able to kill fourth [Eek!]

bring it out, it will give jeff a reason to actually get his car out of the garage and go over 2000rpm [Whoo Whooooo!]
