I took my womans 01GT to Sears last week because it had been a couple years since I had been and both of my cars aren't in the best of shape [Frown]

It went 14.7 @ 95 the first run (major tail wind) and I thought I might be able to learn the car and get it to hit a 14.5ish. Well, 5 runs later it hit a best of 14.27 @ 97 with the normal heavy headwind (which I do NOT think makes that big of a difference.)

It's an AOD car, which is why I was happy with the times. The only mods are a replacement K&N filter and a non manderal bent 2 1/2" cat back with 1 chambers. OTHERWISE BONE STOCK.

Leaving it in D resulted in the best times and MPH. 60' times were 2.1's on balding stock Goodyears.

I was also out there on the 7th. Best run was 14.7 at 97.9 with a 2.44 60 foot time, car is all stock except crank pulley, k&n and exhaust.

Sac raceway hooks up way better there isnt as much headwind like Sears Point has all the time. BTW, I have a 95 Mark VIII, 4R70W.

People (like you I guess) like to use "the track doesn't hook" as your crutch. When it reality, you can't drive the track. How can I pull 2.1's all night and you pull 2.4's? Well, we have the same mph so power sure can't be the reason.... Back up "excuse?" The headwind..... So in this car I would have pulled a mid 13 at Sac huh? Please............................ Good times Don. Any new plans for the car?

Sounds similar to my wifes old 01 GT auto. She got it to run a 14.11 at 99.69 on the stock goodyears. It had some 2 chamber delta's,k &n drop in and 3.73's. Thats it! Ended up selling it to a friend who did some more mods to it. Ran a 13.69 at 101! It was a fun little car. Wish we could have done a 2800 converter and DR's....

I've given her a small list of bolt ons to get her into the 13's easily. I'm not putting my money into her cars performance though so that is up to her. In other words.......... It'll be quite a while [Frown]

Again, some people can drive Sears and some people use the track as a "crutch" for their driving skills.

My car has run more than a tenth and 0.7mph faster than at Sears Point and I have only been to Sac twice while I go to Sears Point all the time... My friend's LS1 Camaro went 2 tenths faster and 2mph faster at Sac as well...

I wouldn't be surprised (other than the wednesday night thing with all the water on the pad, I don't care how great of a driver you think you are if you're sitting in water or about to drive through it) if infineon was actually faster than Sac in the summer, owing to the occasional tailwind and 10+ degree cooler weather.

If you drive through water you are the fool then. I have seen some tire tracks at times up to the line, but I DRIVE AROUND THEM.

what about the water that matters? on the launch pad? Hit or miss whether you're going to hit some water 10', 20', or 30' out. Pull a 2.0 60' on street tires it probably doesn't matter much. Try running a 1.5 60' on a cheater, the small amounts of water make a bit of difference.

No track has as poor water control on the launchpad as Sears. On those days that they do--- it's a great track.
