Hey guys, just wanted to annouce our anual FORD vs CHEVY race. CaliforniaFords.com will be going at it heads up against NorCal-LS1.com at Sacramento Raceway on JUNE 14th. You can find directions to the track HERE.

Here is how the racing will go down:

We have about 25 Fords signed up and NorCal-LS1.com also has about 25 GM's signed up.

We ranked our 25 guys from fastest to slowest, and so have the GM guys. Our #1 guy will race their #1 guy, our #2 guy will race their #2 guy and so forth and so on. The side with the most wins; wins the event. It is the responsibility of the paired up cars to determine and report the winner of the two sometime durring the day/night.

[burnout]

Time table for the event:

2:00PM: 2003 Ford vs. GM Competitors and spectators will be allowed to enter the track and prepare
2:30PM: $6 BBQ provided by Norcal-LS1 will begin.
3:30PM: We will begin to go through tech inspections
4:00PM: Racing starts!

$40 to race, $10 to watch.

Looks like we're off to a great start!

I've created/edited a list for Team FORD on the original post. It will constantly be updated with our current roster of racers.

Don't worry too much about the rankings. They're not set in stone since its only a rough list. They will be finalized at the day of the race.

This sounds like fun seeing as how I have already put some norcal boys to shame on the street. Now we can just make it official. Guess I better get to practicing though, street runs are much different than track runs and this I know!!

I will do it but my mustang is BONE stock right now. I took it to the track for her first passes ever and pulled 14.6s no problem. I should have it down to a 14.0 by the time June 14th rolls around but I don't know. If you have one extra spot I guess I could be #25 [Frown]

It is "stock style" but all aftermarket. The rear arms and anti-swaybar are Wolfe, rear springs are GP coilovers and front is GP tube K with coilovers.

Our MPH is fairly close....as is our ET & 60fts.
I don't really like the thought of running against an Auto LS1 with slicks that launches on the juice. I just can't match 1.5 60fts...& we all know ET is in the first 60 feet.

On race day we'll have a final ranking and you'll be teamed up with your counterpart on the norcal-ls1.com side. Once you know who you'll be racing against. It is your guy's responsibility to line up against that person, determine a winner and report the winner to whoever the 'score keeper' is. We'll probably have a posterboard or something setup with the matchups listed and the winners [patriot]

I have all kinds of people with super fast Chevy's wanting to sign up yet hey have never even been to our site than that IMO is not within the spirit of the race.

Justin, I agree. I was just worried about filling up the 20-25 cars per team at first so Sac will allow this event to happen. Now that it looks like it won't be a problem, we'll be trimming the list down.

Forget about trimming the list down. If we have to many Fords and not enough GMs then just have the Fords run each other also. That way we will still have enough cars to have them open early for us and to have our own lane.

Just as an update I am doing my head gaskets, subframes, headers, catback, and gears tomarrow, should be in the 13s without any problems, so if you need a high 13 second car maybe even mid 13s by the event I would love to run.

Not at all. Over 5 people on that list don't even have their cars running yet. A lot can happen in 4+ weeks. We'll have a good idea of Team Ford and Team Chevy around June 10th I think.

well I run 13.6 2.260ft on street tires at 104.8 wonder what I will do with the slicks in my garage??? I will definatley be there if I stay on the list!!!

Wether your on the list or not its still a grudge night open to anyone. I would like to see this orginized a little better. Instead of finding the person your supposed to run and then run them sometime during the night. We are getting our own lane and we should orginize this better and let whoever wants to run run. If there are more fords running then let the fords that are close in ET run each other. I just think we should take full advantage of having our own lane and supporting everyone that wants to run in the 'event' Just my 2cents.

I think he has a very good idea, we need to pair up and make our runs with a little more of a system of who we are running. This will be a fun night and I am going to race regardless of if I make the list, which I doubt I will. But I would perfer to run in the same lane as my other CAFORDS friends even if my car isn't fast enough.

Basicly, if you haven't timed your car at the track before, and you show up on radials, chances are good you'll run 13's so you'll get ranked acordingly. Look at the list we have.... 20 power adder V8's. It will become a traction contest [Eek!]

No doubt those at the head of the pack will be using drag-racing optimized tires.

So to answer your question directly....... once you get paired up with your Chevy opponent on June 14th, talk to the guy and work out how many practice runs (if any) you'll do when you two will race. All the Norcal-LS1.com guys are cool and I'm sure you guys can plan something out that works for both parties.

TEA sent me the wrong heads and when I got them I didn't even look at them I just took them to the machine shop to get the motor done. The heads they sent me have no air injection holes. I wrote them an email and I left them a message on friday. I am going to get in touch with them tomorrow but I have a bad feeling that they won't care. The part number on my invoice is different than what the heads are. [Mad]

. The motor was suppose to be in today but now it is still in my garage waiting. I am going to ask them to pay for eveything so the heads can be taken off and put on. I can put the heads on myself but why since I payed to have it done they should pay also.

I really want the heads I bought. I am going to call them tomorrow and I hope they will give me something to make it work. I want them to send me my heads that I bought and I will send back the other heads and I want them to pay for all the gaskets and for the engine place to take the heads off and put the new ones on and I think that will be fair

I just got off the phone with TEA great guys. I told him what happened and he is going to take care of everything. He told me I could take the shortblock to the machine shop and have them take the heads off send the old heads back to him put the new set that he is going to send me on and he will pay to have it done thanks TEA

Yeah, cars always break, not get finished in time, ect so we'd like to get as many cars signed up as possible. Even if you don't make it on the "official" Team CaliforniaFords.com list, there is nothing stopping you from heading to the track that day and racing some Chevy's just for fun

peter does not call anyone out, he does not freeway roll anymore, and he only races from a stop at the track now.

Which is it? OFTEN or FROM TIME TO TIME? The site never changes, so if he could use it last year he can use it this year. There were more than a couple of people with very fast street cars that were willing to race for Nor-Cal, they were turned down because it was not what this is about.

I am always up to race I love going to the track and I am there about 3 times a month. I was just saying that I wanted to compete in the event with all of the cafords guys. Now Sawson if I remember TheBrain has had some, how should I say this....Bad luck? with breaking some parts at the track...Lets not try and promote anymore damage...keep in mind he has blown up: Axles, T5, Tremec 3550, and I think a driveshaft, in back to back trips to the track. [Big Grin]

11.2 is a lot faster then any car sitting at the line with parts on the ground.

Here is a short list of the parts I have had "bad luck" with over the past 2 seasons
THREE T-5s
ONE T-5z
TWO Throwout bearings
TWO FRPP Aluminum driveshafts (one of which broke on the 3/4 shift and took out both mufflers, one of the e-brake cables, damaged the fuel and brake line, the tranny mount and crossmember, and broke the mounting ears off of my near new TKO
TWO Driveshaft yokes (in addition to the above driveshafts)
ONE Stock axle
ONE Upper control arm
ONE Lower torque box

Then there was the now infamous trip to the dyno [BS flag]

That took out the head gaskets and damaged both heads

I know there is more, I just can't remember it all [Big Grin]

Sucks racing a very heavy car and having no fear of the 5000+ rpm clutch dump [burnout]

You're on Team Chevy/GM. I recomend you talk to your own team's organizer to see how you'll be ranked on their team.

On race day, both teams will have their racers ranked. If needed, we will introduce you to the guy you'll be racing.
It is the responsibility of the paired up racers to work out the terms of the race, run them, and report the winner to the team team leader by the end of the day [burnout]

Those thave have been to the past two races know this is a very laid back and fun event. Like stated earlier, check out www.pscaracing.com if you're looking for serious hard core heads up racing. We'll have our own "ford vs chevy lane" for you guys to line up in.

Ok last time I ran was bone stock with a AOD in my coupe 14.5 @96 on street tires. I have swapped to the T-5, added a electric fan, taken off about 80 pounds, added long tubes, switched from 2.73s to 3.73s, and have a brand new pair of slicks waiting to be used. I would like a shot to run in this. I think my mods are worth a 13.7 or better, I will get some numbers at test n tune friday night though.

No, it is not. It is a regular grudge night and anyone can race. Our event is just piggybacking the regular night and half the people racing probably wont even know about it. The track offcials are not changing anything special for us other than letting those of us in the race to eneter an hour early for practice and or pit work.

I was just razzing you because you seem to only race if it'll be a sure win for you.... which explains why you always pick on the Supra and LS1 guys and never bother with the fast Fords (only guys capable of working you day in and day out). You KNEW there would be some Mustangs out making comprable RWHP to your Yellow Viper on the 14th, yet to chose to leave it at home and bring out "The family car" to race a Supra [Roll Eyes]
