If you're all motor, donate those 2 gallons of race gas to a power adder car. Race gas will only slow you down

F8LPONY- CAMARA90 and you should be a good match up! Same number of cubes, he's probably lighter, but you have an auto and better flowing heads. I wonder if he's going though.

Mike should be taking his car this wednesday, weather permitting. He can't make this Sat or he'd go. I think they'd be a great matchup. Both are going to throw up some Wicked Traps. Mike just needs slicks. Justin what do your heads flow? How big are the intake and exhaust ports (cc's)? Did you get the injector issue worked out? What were your cam specs again? Good luck and come home with some 11's. [dance]

If I come out to *watch* towards the end of the month, he can borrow my slicks.

st5150, what the latest mods to your car? I know you did a clutch a while back.

I'll be out at the track if the weather is good.

Paul, where have you been??? I was just searching for your email address last night! I'm sure my story is less exciting than yours... fixed my clutch problem and here are the results: www.californiafords.com/sawson/mycar/mustangtimeslips.htm School started getting hectic, so I put my timing to stock, only pop the hood to add oil and pump 87 octane I spent the money I was saving for a simple GT40P headed combo on an electric guitar and quit posting on the corral because I feel like its one big infomercial for the flavor of the week. Its Friday night and I'm doing homework :-\ So whats the story with you? Did you end up getting a matching MAF for your injectors? You software guys always think hardware problems can be solved with code j/k! I'm curious to hear your MIA story.

Well, after twisting my driveshaft, I thought I'd give it a break for a while. To sum it up, I brought the eec calibration to stock, then CAREFULLY adjusted timing to a point that it runs good. This took me forever. You'll think I'm nuts, but I kill off 12 degrees top end timing to run nitrous on pump gas, thats 20 total degrees. I ~may experiment with race gas in the future, but for now the car is plenty fast with 91 octane.
To supplement this process, I have a wideband 02 sensor on board now, so I adjusted top end fuel correctly and safely. This was a major benefit as I found the engine was running 11.85:1 A/F. I trashed the stock midas mufflers and added dynomax (the see through type), added a Pro5.0 shifter, new axle, air bags in the rear and now its ready for battle. Get this. On an idle launch, 3.55s, and stock suspension, it runs low 1.5 60fts. Hard to believe isn't it?

If the engine had anything but 1/2" head bolts, I think I would have blown a gasket a long time ago. I've been lucky and the motor has been tolerant of my mistakes.

Hope to see you guys at the track. Will be fun checking out the cars and projects. I'm sure when you get done with school, you'll have time to build a monster too. BTW, 13.7@101mph is impressive for stock heads. My old GT wouldn't do better than 14.2@98 with stock heads.

Paul

Ok, I made it out. First pass not so great, 11.3, then added 4 degrees more timing. Car pulled harder than ever, ran 1.51 60ft, then when I shifted to 3rd broke the pinion gear off.

There were a few really nice cars out there, several fast Mustangs, etc. Did anyone notice the two Charger R/Ts? Makes me want to dump my Mustang! Just so I do them justice, I also saw one Camaro knock off a 10.85. Was a clean running car.

See you guys next time. Probably with a 9" rear though.

It was a nice day- got 7 runs! Was there at 9 am. Saw a blown, BB, Pinto hit the wall HARD right off the bat. That took over an hour to clean up- the driver walked away. No new best times. But at least I was more consistent and nothing broke!

Paul- What wide band kit did you go with? 1.5X is crazy for an idle launch! As you can tell I didn't make it out today. Breaking a pinion ring... pretty rare thing to go... it looks like your drive line is paying for years of abuse all at once. What MPH was your 11.3 pass? Was that all motor or bottle?
