well as some of you guy know we're putting together a page for our project cars.. one is a 01 GT and the other is a 90GT..today we went to the track to get the baseline numbers for the 90.. 1st run was 1000% STOCK right down to the timing and silencer...went
14.48 @95.15 w/a 2.13 60-foot..great start!
after a few stock runs we yanked the silencer...
14.47@96.11 w/a 2.15 60-foot then a few more runs later we added soem timing..
14.31@97.0 w/a 2.24 60-foot
upped shift point from 5k to 5.2k and got a great 60-foot..came back w/ 13.97@97.68mph!! 2.05 60- foot this is a full weight GT w/ no gutting done to it ..now the mods can begin .. big props to 5.0BRIAN for the great driving!!
on a different note.. i also met a few guys up there from this page.. Jeff s(nice guy)and a coupe more that i forgot to get names from..seen john91coupe pull a nice 9.7@14? or so ..got the video of it too

Yup- awesome conditions (mid 40's all day) and small crowd. I ran pretty well today.

Run 1
60ft.- 2.07
13.62 101.5

Run 2
60ft.- 2.005
13.61 100.564

Run 3
60ft.- 1.994
13.579 101.557

Run 4
60ft.- 1.930
13.476 101.431

Run 5
60 ft.- 1.891
13.394 101.696!!!!!!!!!!!

Iced intake all day, started power shifting all shifts. YEAH!!!!!!!! New best 60 ft. of 1.84 but screwed the power shift 1-2. Not too shabby.

Got some great pics of John Giasi's runs. We will run a whole article at F/M later in the week. He ran a 9.701 at 143.669 on a 1.501 60 ft.

HEHE, that's the truth! These parts I have already are just looking at me waiting to be put on. I'm happy with those times, I had a good time today (barely anybody there). Now it's time to go faster!!!

Well, hope Dan finishes soon, I have to break-in the motor before it goes to the track.
Won't be next weekend, but weekend after I am hoping.
If you guys end up going next weekend, I will drive up with ya's so long as I don't have to work!
Good shit Guys.
Are you going to calculate performance gained per mod?

Whats the mileage on this GT? Must be low.
Seeing this kinda stuff makes me want to keep my 92 LX.

cars tend to run well in -1000 to -1500 density altitude conditions. Very impressive 60's especially if those are worn 215mm tires! Then again, supposedly people have gone 1.7s on stock suspension and normal radials (but they must be freaks)

It has 105,000 miles right now. I'm guessing this car has been babied its entire life. Actually, I told Gabriel the wrong tire width, they are 225 mm. I would like a 1.7 60 ft. on street tires, that's crazy!!

Hey Gabriel.........

You guys didnt run the 01 GT.....

what are some of the mods on the 01 GT....

Posted by MilesMerk (Member # 27) on :

4.10's and the ofroad pipe are the only mods so far on the 01'

That sounds to good to be true, but i wont hate.Everything must have went just right. I just want to see the video.
But congrats if it did run a high 13!
Makes mustang drivers proud.

I forgot to add, I never powershifted the car on any of the runs throughout the day. Thought you guys and gals might like to know that.

Have you taken a thorough look at the car?

My buddy has an 88LX that he bought from the "original" owner.

When the car ran a 13.5 we started to wonder why.

This car appeared to be bone stock although it did have 3.27 gears and dyno max muffs.

Upon closer inspection we spied GT40 ribs on the heads.

Apparently the REAL original owner had ford put a warranty motor in it and this came in the form of an iron headed GT40 motor with the B303 camshaft.

Hey Brian,
When did you buy it? How much did you get it for?
Congrats on the new ride

No, actually I haven't looked for odd stuff like that, maybe I should check things out.

Don't mind how the second quote looks. I tried to manually do a quote and it didn't make it bold.

Im just saying have a look.

I LOVE the fact that you went that quick bone stock Im not a hater at all!!

But I have worked on so many 5 point slows and have seen so much crap.

One time I worked on this point that had the heads replaced by ford and they actually put GT-40s on I guess the guy raised such a fuss and DORF and wanted his car back NOW that they threw the only heads they had in stock on it??? Maybe. Dunno but he was the original owner and told me the heads were replaced by ford.

But nothing beats the GT40 crate motor in my buddies (he still has it) "original" owner 88LX.

-----I wasn't saying that there was a problem, sorry for the misunderstnding.

-----That's cool. Sounds like that could have been the case for those heads. But it has a B-303 though?

Yeah it has a B303 I guess the early crate motors did.

Posted by 5.0Brian (Member # 262) on :

OK. What do they have in them now? Also, he gets to say that it's all stock too. hehe

Posted by PunkINa5.SLOW (Member # 10) on :

Yeah I guess he does get to say that

They come with E/B and I guess you can get them with X cams now.

But the gt40 iron headed crate motors have e cams or b cams

I bet the car is totally stock. Take a well driven car (witness the stock tired 2.0x 60'), add near perfect conditions (-1500 foot density altitude), and hot damn. 13 second COMPLETELY stocker! AWESOME is all I can say (and this is what? 1 or 2 weeks later? lol!)
