How's everyone feel about the political drama in the NFL?NBA? Happening this weekend?

I thought these sports were to get us away from all the drama of day to day life.... [patriot]

NO biggie. It's America. You can kneel if you like.

I look at it as laughable , sure you could say its sort of disrespectful but whatever. I dont know how many of you have kids in school but i do and lots of schools dont pledge the flag on a daily anymore. It is what it is, our country, our planet is fucked! no one will ever agree on anything or get along. I think the only thing that can help us in a positive way is a serious and i mean serious! catastrophic event that wipes out a huge percentage of population coast to coast.

Can you imagine if players had protested against something the president tweeted while Obama was in office? The race card would have been thrown out so fast LOL.

I'd like to know why they are kneeling in the first place, I don't give a shit what they do but I'm not wasting my Sunday watching a watered down version of football. I'd rather watch soccer than this shit.

Curry said he didn't want to go to the White House first, so Trump says stay home. Curry goes Trump is mean, lol. We don't need your unappreciative ass in the White House. Pittsburgh Penguins going though so I think I'm gonna be watching a lot of Hockey this year. Go Sharks!

Kneeling is not what people have a problem with. The problem is with punishing people not for what they do, but what they think. Do you want to live in a country that punishes people for what they think? It is not just to punish people for thought crime. To be free is to be able to think what you want and not get punished for it.

A good time to remember America's 1st amendment guarantees freedom of expression.

We should all kneel in solidarity with those getting punished for the crime of thinking differently than the masses.

Freedom of expression at your job is different than outside of your work. I can't show up to work wearring political crap. I can't wear a fuck the police shirt, an Obama is a muslim, Lock her up.......

When you're at your job. Shit needs to kept to yourself. Also I have a problem with the protest because their message is false. The facts show that Blacks are killed by cops at a lower % than whites.
The idea that cops are going around shooting inocent black people is bullshit.

The President was at a rally.
Speaking to his supporters. Trump didn't demand those players be fired for protesting. Trump was using his own fredom of speech.

I'll never forget when Obama's friend was arrested and he said the officers reacted stupidly. It's his free speech to do so. But once again Obama spoke out before all the facts were presented. He did that a lot.

Ok so no one can express themselves except the president, got it. I'm starting to notice a pattern in every argument around here. I'll just leave it at that.... [dance]

Not a good idea to do that at your job. Especially when it's a Bullshit reason to protest anyways.

You don't forfeit your constitutional rights when you clock in at work. The most disturbing act is Trump trying to get people fired for exercising their first amendment rights. People shouldn't be fired for what they think. Trump doesn't think so.

Any of you heard of conservative supreme court justice Antonin Scalia?

Then why didn't the Cowboys last year NOT get to wear a sticker on their helmets, to honor the deaths of officers killedin the line of duty?

Why did the NFL ban/fine players who wanted to wear shoes that were dedicated to men and women who lost their lives on 9/11?

The door should swing both ways then. But it doesn't. Players can sit for the National Anthem and be praised for it. Tim Tebow was mocked because he would take a knee and pray on the field. People were offended by that and it struck a nerve. People thought it was wrong that he brought his religion onto the field...... But politics is okay right?

You can be political at work.
Trump was at Alabama btw so of course his supporters will cheer him on. Come to Cali that shyt doesn't fly around here.
In his rally, Called Son of a Bitch and fire him if a football player takes a knee. So in return you get what you ask for plain and simple.

1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, 2 Black panthers did it but differently by raising there fist of a act of protest. What happen after that banned from the Olympics. However, way back when Germany on the other hand did Nazi Salute nothing happen. It's ok they just showing their nationality salute.
Again
Ali stripped from his title for not going to Vietnam War because his religious beliefs.

Lets no be naive here the kneeers are protesting DT not America or the national anthem.

So what is my point. They have the right to protest in a non violent way. Are you going to lose your job for protesting for your political views probably but a law suit will come all the way up to the Supreme Court. Therefore, this is what changed America in a good way because our Bill of Rights created new amendments.

If you don't like it don't watch NFL and protest against it by not getting ratings like DT said.

P.S Tom Brady is a clown act who can't answer a simple question about this but it's his freedom to decline which is good for him.
We live in a diverse country right now.

But don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team.

Can you cite your sources for this claim? Have you seen the video of the crooked cop Michael Slager shooting an unarmed Walter Scott eight times in the back? ------
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCQejpUssnk
Former Coast Guard, Walter Scott was innocent. Pulled over for the crime of driving a Mercedes-Benz with a broken brake light. After you watch this video, I can cite many more examples. Police do exactly what you claim they don't. Cops are going around shooting innocent black people.

Obama spent 8 years playing the race card.
Didn't speak out against cops being shot in retaliation for shootings. Shootings that Obama jumped the gun blaming officers and other justified shootings. Going as far as to say Trayvon Martin could have been his son...... That's straight out of the Rules For Radicals playbook.

People crack me up when they say these Athletes are exercising their 1st amendment right. First of all the 1st Amendment if for protection of the people from the government. Last time I check the work place as in the NFL was not the Government, and the Government would not be the one stopping them from doing so. As an employer the NFL had the right to take action regardless of someones beliefs. It is the same as when I used to work retail, they used to train all us managers and our employees that we had to wish people Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas. Just because I celebrate Christmas and thats were my beliefs stem does not mean that I had the 1st ammendment right to do as I please at work. Get your fact right people.

And yes I stand for our countries Anthem, I believe in the Pledge of Allegiance at our schools, and now that I dont work retail and am self employed I say Merry Motha Fucking Christmas!!! [patriot]

I’ve never sat at home or do I know anyone who sat at home during a National Anthem.

Camara90 ------ I respect your opinion. I'd like to share how civil rights might not be applied as you perceive. Samantha Elauf took Abercrombie to the supreme court for not allowing her to wear a hijab at work ---- https://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/02/us/supreme-court-rules-in-samantha-elauf-abercrombie-fitch-case.html What style of cotton you place on your body is just as much of a freedom of expression as kneeling.

The Steeler team sat out the anthem. Do you want the whole team fired? Do you want to live in a country where the ruler tells private corporations to fire their employees for exercising their first amendment rights?

Gentleman, listen to what NASCAR great Dale Earnheart Jr said on this topic "All Americans are granted rights to peaceful protests. Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable - JFK"

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said "No matter how many times a football player says, 'I honor our military, but I’m protesting police brutality and racial inequality,' it doesn’t matter, Nationalists are saying, ‘You’re disrespecting our flag.’ Well, you know what else is disrespectful to our flag? Racism. And one’s way worse than the other.”

And on DT he said “The idea of civil discourse with a guy who is tweeting and demeaning people and saying the things he’s saying is sort of far-fetched, Can you picture us really having a civil discourse with him?” This is how I feel when trying to discuss these topics with the Trump supporters here. When I first joined, one Trump supporter threatened to kill me. I have news for you. The first amendment is not to protect speech you like to hear. The first amendment is explicitly to defend speech you don't want to hear. Civil rights are very undemocratic like that. The first amendment is explicitly to preserve the right to express a minority opinion. 99.99% of the country can vote to silence you, but the 1st amendment tells them they can't!
[worship]

This is of course 100% correct and should be common knowledge. The NFL owners have the right to do as they please with their employees (within reason and law of course). In this case, they are choosing to let them "speak." At this point the President should be hands off. After all, the government trying to regulate private business is an incredibly liberal ideal.

What's truly offensive is the constant discussion by our leaders and media of the NFL when hundreds of thousands of Americans in Puerto Rico are in dire need of help. At least a week after the hurricane, some are finally starting to take notice.

This I agree.

Trump should be more concerned about Puerto Rico and not throwing a diva tantrum on national television about the NFL.
