So I've been kicking around the idea of getting back into a foxbody and my first convertible at that, I don't mind spending on gas as I'm looking at making it a daily only issue is the clean ones are all 4cly cars so how reliable are the 4cly and are the auto trannys bad in these things?

I wouldn't do the auto in these cars. They've been known to crap out around ~100k. Not to mention they're at least tolerable in terms of power with a 5 speed.

Don't plan on making it a powerful car just looking to rest my supercharged coyote as it has 90k miles on it already.. it'll be more of a looks car then anything..

Drove a 93 4cyl auto as a daily for awhile. It was completely gutless, like scary slow but it was bulletproof in terms of reliability.

when I parted out my 4 banger guts after doing the conversion I had a dozen people that wanted to buy the totally functional a4ld auto transmission, and nobody wanted the engine.

that should say something.

Doesn't seem like there are many of these 4cyl in good condition left, are there?
