Im looking to get a combo on my fox and wanted to know what some of you all think or have recommendations. I was thinking
AFR 165cc
Trick flow stage 1 cam
Edelbrock rpm 2
With some 1.6 rockers

Seems like a decent plan but there may be better cam choices out there

Im trying to keep it smog legal street car. I heard the trick flow stage 1 will pass but you have to say its a E303 cam.

You can order a custom cam that's smog legal and will make more power than a off the shelf cam. Afr 185's 58cc (smog legal) custom cam and a rpm2 and you'll be happy.

I have explorer intake port matched to my afr 165s with a comp cam xe270hr..

I'd go custom cam, strictly because there's obviously better cam choices out there.

Its up to you, though. AFR 185s wouldn't be a bad idea either.

how much does a custom cam cost generally, and what do they run to install?

I think a custom fti cam is just above 300? But when you get more power and drivability than anything on the market it's worth it. And it's generally a 500 dollar job for install. I think that's parts and labor not including the initial cost of the cam

I just sent you a pm...i had the same goals until i decided to go coyote.
I have a set of brand new ford stroker prepped tw 170 heads and a brand holley systemax intake that i wont be using. Combined with the right cam and this would be a great smog legal setup.
