About to pull the trigger on a hood for my 86. I want to go with cervini but noticed they don't have a 3" cowl, only 2.5. Cervini is the best IMO for fit and finish so I really want to stick with them. Any body have a picture or 2 they could share help me see the difference a half inch makes? Also where's the best place to buy a hood from them?

Why not go with Maier's 3"
Good quality AND their local.

Your lucky, try finding a 79-82 cowl hood, I ended up going with this Dark Horse Racing 2" hood for my 82.
It's modeled after the 79 Pace Car hood & scoop

Tim I just checked them out. No pictures on the site and 100 more than cervini I think. Can't remember if cervini charges for shipping

As I understand it, Bill Maier is no longer operating Maier Racing. He is still around, but Charlie Maier is running the business now. Mike has his own thing going now in Livermore.

I have known the Maier family for many years, and consider them all to be good people. That being said, my personal experience with their fiberglass hoods has been bad. The fitment was crap, and the price did not reflect a sub-par product. There are some Maier products that fit better than others, largely due to different manufacturing techniques. But I would never buy another Maier hood.

I think he said he bought a ABC or something like that hood off eBay but don't know if we're talking about the same hood.

the four eyes are the easiest hoods to modify yourself and you have a all steel cowl hood when done, thats just my opinion, any good sheet metal fab guy could knock one out pretty quick.

I really thought about having the front 3" of a 4 eye hood molded onto a fiberglass cobra r hood for the 87-93. There's no difference besides the front of the hood. But I wasn't sure how the roundness of the hood would look on such a square car. Robert also pointed that out to me.

It was an brand new Ebay hood. Fucker started cracking a few days after I intalled it. Fit was fine, and I dont remember it being "see through" thin, buy I wouldn't buy one again.

Bill still runs it but through Charlie, I would take a Maier hood over a Cervini hood, the Maier hood is way lighter than stronger than a Cervini, but the Maier hoods do fit like crap, I use to make hoods at Maier over 20 years ago, if Cervini would make their hoods with layed fiberglass then I would want one

Lee, do you recall a blue 89 GT at Maier's getting a 3" wide body kit while you were there ?
I've known Bill since about 1986 and also used to sell him 87 LX bumpers back when the new aero mustangs came out

Sorry I don't, I just remember putting flares on a 70 Camaro and Deans 89 Convertible getting flares but that was a long time ago
