I got $1300 to throw at the 90 fox GT. It's mostly stock except BBK shorty headers, Full length subframe connectors, MAC O/R H pip with flows, air box mod and aftermarket stereo and speakers. Interior is clean except a rip in the driver seat vinyl. All maintenance is done, breaks and tires are good. What would you spend it on? Gears? Suspension? Tint? I can do small stuff so keep in mind that labor would be involved. Where should I throw the money

5lug makes these cars stand out but I dunno if $1300 can cover it. Maybe a little more. I forget how much it was in total

Damn, is it really that much for junkyard parts to do the 5 lug swap?

I think it was $150 for the front from foxbody in San Jose. Bought a Lincoln rearend for $350 with gears and fox length axles(got real lucky) and say another $300 in misc parts like master cylinder ect. And a friend did the installation. Oh and maybe $500 on rims and tires maybe.

What do you want? go fast? look good? Sound good? This is a loaded question. Try to narrow it down.

1)Used Vortech supercharger kit and save up for injectors and other stuff needed.

2) save up a bit more for a on3 turbo kit ($1600)

3) maaco paint job for 1k you can a decent job, I have a friend that works there.

4) 5 lug cobra rear end with gears already for about $550, thats what your going to spend putting gears on your stock rear end so might as well get a 5 lug cobra rear end with disc and gears.

What are your plans on the car? Just a daily driver, drag car, drift car or a show car?

I'd look into a cam, elec fan conversion and intake or aluminum heads. You got a lot of different ways to go. I'd do something to compliment the mods you've already done.

I spent about $500 to go 5 lug on my GT with junkyard parts.

found a few 95 GT's and v6's at the yard and combined stole a brand new set of slotted/drilled rotors, brand new looking front and rear ceramic pads, good 95 spindles/hubs, good 95 master cylinder, good non-abs prop valve and drivers side hard line, good front hoses, good complete rear end with 3.27 gears and good trak-lok clutches...and a set of bullitt wheels with good tires.

the full 5 lug parts from JY were about $225, the rest I spent on the used wheels and tires.

It all depends on what your plans/goals are for the car.. daily driver, drag car, street/strip, corner carver, or what?

Biggest difference you will feel is definitely going to be gears.. but you have to decide which gears are best for you based on the purpose of the car..

Thanks guys. It's a weekend driver. I like the 5 lug idea but would have to pay to have a lot of it installed. Paint is still good so don't have to go there yet. I live in the mountains so maybe I will go suspension and gears. Don't want to lower it because the roads here are kind of beat up. Any good springs that keep the stock height? Anyone have any recommendations on a good valve body shift kit?

AOD's love 4:10 gears. Spend the money and have it done right, rebuild the differential if necessary, replace bearings, etc. while its open. If you want a shift kit installed, your going to go over budget and might as well have the trans gone through and rebuild if necessary.

It's an AOD 👎🏻 Your solution is simple,do a t5 5spd swap asap...

Tranny swap and stock GT 5Lug from a new edge. Itll handle great, give it a nice look and cost you around 4-500 for everything all said and done. Tranny swap would be about the same price done right

5 speed swap and suspension no doubt. If you can scavenge the money, 3:73s for sure.

If you like to go around corners fast, I'm the guy to talk to [patriot]

Wht86. Ya parts are a grand but so is instillation. Can't do a tranny swap myself. Thanks tho

Slow... 5 speed swap and suspension for $1300? Would love to do that but would have to pay for the swap. Suspension I could probably swing myself

stock new edge Bullitt stock springs would only drop it a very minor amount but really tighten up the body roll and give you better control, especially combined with a set of stock new edge bullitt or mach1 shocks/struts.

Save your money and just enjoy the car cause $1300 isnt going to get you much unless you put a nitrous kit on it

I kind of agree with this make a plan for the car and then purchase pieces as they come up & end up with something that's well thought out.

I'd put that money into some slap, ps4 in the dash, and an 8 ball of coke.
