Seems like most people are running 7" or 8" wide? I know the front is pretty much at max with the 8" wide, but anybody have any luck with anything wider in the rear? Ive been reading online that people fit upto 10" wide and 275 tires without a mini tub by playing with the backspacing/offset.. but havent really seen any pics..

I think if you got the right back spacing it could be done. I would say easier on a 67-70. I still have a lot of space between the leaf springs and tire.

Is anyone running 17" Billet Specialties on their classic mustangs? Looking at getting a set, but i'd love to check out how they'd look first.

Looking under my 68 with the 17x8 255 tires, it looks like theres enough room.. but it feels like it will rub on the inner wheel well..

Anybody here try that Poor Mans mini tub thing where you do a pie cut on the inner wheel well to get more clearance??

I had 18x9.5 in the rear of my 68. Iirc it had a -33 offset. Had a one inch lowering block. 245 or 255 tire can't remember that either. Had about a half inch to clear the leaf spring and It tucked with the lip rolled.

I agree, it looked really nice.. but im not really a fan of too much chrome so with the chrome trims, bumpers, grill, side mirrors, etc. I felt like it was too much for me..

Stock 8" rear. I think the fronts were 225/35/18. Had the Shelby drop. Only rubbed at driveway dips when turning. I'll see if I have any pics.

Well how did this guy get this to fit?

I personally prefer era correct wheels on old schools. On 67-68 coupes, I always liked magnum 500s with white letter tires. Aggressive and classy.

looks like he is running the aje strut on spindle front setup.. Nice to see a car running and driving with the setup.. All the pics and threads I have found so far about that kit were all on jack stands still..

Hard to fit anything more than a 285 on my 68.. So I mini tubbed mine and relocated the leaf springs to the inside of frame rail.. Can fit a 325/50/15 and interchange wheels with my coyote.. Got pics of mock up before rear end was in - -

You are correct about the AJE frontend. The owner was or still is a member here. Really nice looking car and have always liked it.
