the battery light on means the alternator is not charging

Alternator issue.

In the future buy a cheap DMM (digital multi meter) and when this happens again put the leads in your battery and see if the alternator is pumping out 13.7+ volts at idle. If it doesn't it probably needs to be replaced.

Take the alternator out and have it tested at a parts store before you start throwing money at it. The alt test is free.

Another thing to check for is a loose belt. Our alternators are driven by the super charger belt. If it is too loose, it will slip and cause the battery light to flicker. Just another thought.

On svtp

There seems to be tons of issues with the 03-04 alternators going out.

Common problem. Change it.
