I might look at this car. how can you tell if its a 5.4 just by looking at motor. he says its a 5.4 but thur pic looks just like a 4.6. its a 97 gt also what are the benefits of a 5.4 over a 4.6 thanks

More torque down low, same horsepower. If it has HPS hardballr intake manifold it has even more potential . The intake manifold with adapters really hold back power and screw up the injector location. The 5.4 is 2ish inches wider over stock. The driver side valve cover will be a lot closer to the brake master cylinder.

I wouldn't pay extra for a 5.4 though

Not even that. Would just get a standard 4.6L bore and stroke built up to take 8k+ rpms with boost and of course 4 valve c heads. The 5.4 was cool 10 years ago.

Have fun forking out the money for a trans to hold 8k revs. lol 10 years ago..ok
