Looking to do a tune up and wanted to know if the all mighty company msd is still supplying the market with bad parts? I've heard, not experienced, repeat heard, about all the dying coils and poorly crimped wires and distributors going bad out of nowhere. Just want to know where to spend my money wisely.

Ok so where is the best place to find a good factory replacement dizzy? I've had a gear pin shear off on my 79 and that was an oreilly dizzy. Don't really want to deal with that again

That's because of the cam. If it's a stock cam it won't mess up your distributor gear again. I use oem distributor with MSD cap and rotor, never had problems.

What brand was the O'Reilly's dizzy? I heard the Rich Porter brand dizzy you can get at O'Reilly's is a pretty good replacement dizzy for the stock one.

I had a Msd distributor for 5 years until it went out. It was on a daily driven car too. The coils suck, those only lasted me 1 or so. Try to find a stock distributor. I bought a screaming demon coil from 50 resto and it's bent holding well for a year now.
