Thoughts? Opinions? While I'm in no way, shape or form a Giants fan, but it sucks that our teams have pretty much lost it. Giants fans, why does your team suck? My fellow A's fans, what's your take on our downfall? Is it the slump our bats have had? Or are you like me and blame the Cespedes trade? I personally believe we should have NEVER traded him. So, discuss please...

I'am disgusted with the A's. I also believe strongly the cespedes trade was the beginning of what i call "THE MELTDOWN" This is Mr. beans worst move ever!I feel that removing cespedes from the lineup got rid of the guy that completes the roster. Just look back over the cespedes era all the times he was out for wrist problems we lost a large percentage of games.

As much as I like most of what Billy Beane does, he got an adverse chemical reaction to the chemistry that was there when Cespedes was in the lineup. When Cespedes left, it was like Donaldson and Moss had trouble shouldering the load....and still do.

I think Billy Beane blew this one with the rent-a-Lester trade. Hope they find some way to pull it together. Last night was rock-bottom! [Frown]

pitching wins in the playoffs maybe Beane actually wanted to get out of the first round for once! and yeah, you're an idiot thinking the giants are done. 2 games back and still a 3 game series left against the dodgers. The reason I didn't have a problem with the trade is the fact that the A's wanted to get more pitching. The writing was on the wall that cespedes wasn't going to be coming back anyways. They traded him when he was worth the most stock....... But the gamble didn't pay off in the end. If by some miracle Oakland can pick up a wildcard spot then they still have a chance. Highly unlikely but only time will tell.

Oh and the Giants ain't doing shit. [Razz]

When I woke up and I turned on the TV and saw Cespedes had been traded my stomach dropped to the floor. I knew it right away this was the worst possible trade scenario. Who in their right mind trades away they're #4 hitter in the middle of a playoff race. The A's had the most runs in baseball and had given up the least amount of runs so for Billy Beane to make that trade made no sense. The writing was on the wall and Beane ignored it. The A's record with cespedes was above and beyond what the record was without him, and no they don't have the spark plug in the middle of the order, or that hitter that pitchers feared and pitched around. Now that he's gone moss has been struggling donaldsons numbers are down, Stephen Vogt has to hit clean up, and you don't have no real defense in the outfield besides Reddick. I can go on forever but I'm so disgusted on how bad these guys collapsed its sickening. I hope they don't make the playoffs, I hope Lester leaves and I hope for once Billy Beane gets held responsible for some of the stupid moves he makes. Thanks Billy for blowing up a special team you Douche.

A's fan for over 25 years, yes I'm an old bastard, I'm tired of this team man. They spend no money, the stadium is beyond a shithole that was just re upped for another decade, and them justifying the Cespedes trade with well we were gonna lose him next year anyways is absolute bullshit! It's hard to spend any cash on the team tickets gear etc when we all know damn well every year is just gonna be status quo.

Look across the Bay, Giants and yes the Niners spend money get new stadiums win 2 rings and appear in the playoffs regularly. The small ball shit and being cheap in Oakland doesn't work!!

I'd love to see a new ownership team buy it, bud a stadium and start trying to make a run every year. The problem starts with owners being greedy. I know I done attend games because
1. I work way too much
2. I don't wanna buy a ticket and line dick heads pockets. I can support the team by watching that shit on TV or the radio.

At this point it has nothing to do with loyalty. If you've endured the A's and watched them this past month you know they're past the point of return. There is no fire in this team, no drive, no accountability. They suck flat out, they've been the worse team since August 1st and have given up so much ground to other teams. Billy Beane really dropped the ball on this one. Someone needs to be held responsible.

I've always been an A's fan, but they have been playing like absolute shit. I believed that the Cespedes/Lester trade was great, and thought it would be perfect for the A's. But after seeing what has been happening after the trade, it seems as if the A's have lost some kind of chemistry. In the end, we lose Lester and we obviously lost Cespedes. Lose/Lose situation at its finest.

I was ONCE an A's fan (yes I'll admit it) But that was in the 80-90s. Back then they kept players around and there was a "team" to follow. Now the team gets/grooms someone good (example Cespedes)and instead of keeping him and building a team, they use players like him as a trading piece instead of building a team to last for years to come.... A's fans brag about the Billy B era, I think it's a kick in the nuts to the fans.....

That was a tough game to watch man you just knew the Royals were the better team on the field plus mistakes in extra innings didn't help. Would be nice to see a change in this organization but they're probably thinking well we got farther then most teams so why not stick with this plan. It's terrible.

Losing Cespedes wasnt the collapse of the team. He wasnt that big of a bat. The guy only had 20 some odd homers.

Most people wouldnt say Cespedes was a leader in the club house. I think the A's just came up short.

i think the trade had a big toll on the rest of offense, but its no excuse why brandon moss only had 4hr after the all stars breaks vs him having 21hr before the all stars. defense played very loose vs KC in the wild card. they shouldve just let lester finish off that 8th inning it probably wouldnt have been as much as a freak show it was in the bottom of the 8th.
