So I just got my first new edge GT and am not sure what I can do to it..

Its a 2000 GT..

What are some good "Bang For The Buck" mods?? Things that make the most difference??

Its gonna be a cruiser, so not gonna be doing anything too crazy.. Just little things here and there..

Any suggestions are appreciated..

**I will post pics after I wash it later**

Of course just like a foxbody best cheap mods are offroad mid pipe and some 410 gears that's what I have on my bullitt and I love them

Trade it in for a coyote or termi [Big Grin]

Just playing, I agree with above. Gears are definitely worth every penny, and one of the best first mods to do. Don't forget about subframe connectors and some sort of torque box reinforcment. Those two would on my high priority list

I did 3.73 on mine when I had it and it was fun best bang for the buck. Subframe connectors and upper and lower control arms. I would say a free flowing exhaust would help too.

5 speed?

3.73's or 4.10's
Catted midpipe & catback
Springs & shocks
CC plates and SFC's
alignment
Short throw if a manual
Staggered tire/wheel setup
Some decent audio
tint

Make it handle..

- 3.73 gears if it is a 5-speed (4.10 can be annoying if you daily drive, especially on the highway... In my opinion)
- Subframe connectors.
- Catback exhaust. SSS exhaust, SLP, or Pypes Violator. All three are stainless, mandrel bent 2.5" and straight through mufflers, and cheap.
- some decent springs and dampers. H&R or Steeda Sport and Koni STR.T are a great, well priced combo.
- rear lower control arms. J&M makes a nice set. Their Street/Race arms have a poly-ball bushing on the chassis side and a spherical bearing on the axle side. Similar to Maximum Motorsports arms, but cheaper.

I'd leave the stock mid pipe. A catted mid pipe won't legitimately pass smog, and doesn't yield a huge gain in power for the money they tend to cost. If you replace the mid pipe, go off-road x-pipe or leave it stock. UPR makes a decent X-pipe for a great price.

Upper control arms are a waste unless it is strictly a drag car. The flexibility and compliance in the rubber bushings in the stock upper control arms is needed to prevent suspension bind for handling. If it's just going straight, it doesn't matter. If it's handling, leave the upper arms alone, or replace them with new OEM arms... Save upper control arm money, and eventually, just get a panhard bar.

If you're serious about making it handle, convert the front to coilover as soon as you buy decent front struts. Moving the spring out to the damper lets you run softer spring rates, while still increasing effective wheel rates... So you get a decent ride, while handling like you have super stiff lowering springs in the stock location. Maximum Motorsports sells a nice front coilover conversion kit that can fit Bilstein, Koni, Tokico... Most high quality dampers. It's almost $400, but the difference in the front end is substantial.

99/01 cobra front bumper, yellow fogs, smoked headlights, black fr500's, koni srt's, h&r springs, j&m lower control arms, 4.10 gears.

Thats what i would do...

Sorry fellas, shouldve put a parts list that it already has.. haha..

This is what I know it has so far, I'm finding more stuff as I go through the car.. I bought the car at 11pm (not the best idea) and took a quick look and test drive before bringing it home since it was a 90 minute drive..

Suspension:
-Lowering springs
-Koni shocks & struts
-Subframe Connectors
-Roll Cage
-Panhard Bar

Drivetrain:
-Long Tube Headers
-Offroad H pipe
-Dumped exhaust (because of panhard bar) [Frown]
-Short shifter
-Dual Friction clutch

Cosmetic:
-It has some weird ass hood..
-03/04 Cobra front bumper (which I'm going to remove)
-Sunroof
-Rear wing delete
-01+ smoked housing headlights
-18"chrome y2k wheels (which I'm also going to take off)

The guy I got it from was a youngsta who didnt even know what was done to it.. He just said he needed a daily driver and his parents are making him get rid of the mustang.. I just briefly checked it out and drove it to make sure it didnt make any funny noises or anything.. But as I'm going through everything in the day light, I'm finding more mods done to it than I thought..

Looks good, If you want it to handle I would throw away the upper control arms and buy a torque arm. you will need stiffer rear springs but other than that you have everything you need to install one.

Rear seat delete. To me with a full cage, rear seats become an eye sore. Maybe different front seats as well to match the cage

I'm selling my intercooler Procharger setup off my 2001 Mustang GT on eBay right now. The head unit needs a rebuild, but it's a no reserve auction so you could get a good enough deal on it to where even after a rebuild you're saving a couple grand. The kits are about $4,800 new.
