I don't understand why you people dislike the Toyota Prius as its economical and NEVER breaks down. Sure, I have a mustang in my garage, but I do like Toyota/Lexus cars.

Not the fastest car in the world, but I don't give a fuck, I like it.

Cobra racer, this isn't to hate on you but out of curiosity, why do you like the Prius? Is it just for fuel economy? Because there are quite a few American cars with the same EPA ratings or better and if you didn't already know, to make a Prius causes more pollution and harm to the environment than to drive a non hybrid car. In fact making Prius's is one of (if not) the most harmful processes in the automotive world.

Just never understood people that were Prius or Bust fans. There's better fuel economy and there's better environmental cars.

Ford fusion energi with the hov sticker FTW. Looks way better and the technology is far more superior then a Prius.

This. The battery alone is shipped to like 7 different countries to be made. I'm a Lexus fan myself but I can't stand Prius'.

Someone please post that meme of that dude standing in front of his prius and reads "I love my prius, it matches my vagina."

I seen a Prius broke down & being towed on auto mall parkway in Fremont yesterday. I also know someone who had to replace their batteries 50 miles over the factory warranty. Wasn't cheap to fix. All cars can break down. But I'd rather drive a fiesta/focus or ford hybrid then a Prius any day if the week. [patriot]

My daughter had a Prius. The car itself wasn't too bad, however when she rear ended another car at 15mph, the airbags deployed (which was fine..did it's job). The damage to the front didn't seem too bad, looked fixable to us, but after getting it appraised, the damage was estimated at $16,000. It somehow destroyed the electrical system (not sure of the details). I don't know what's up front there as I've never looked under the hood. They ended up totaling it.

She now has a Honda Civic Hybrid which gets comparable mileage and seems to be built much better. She definitely pays more attention to the road now!!! [Wink]

I'm sure it's a fine car. The reason for the vitriol and internet hate has to do with the reputation of its drivers. With few exceptions, most who drive a Prius are self righteous smug individuals who happen to believe their feces smells of fresh flowers and they somehow have some deep spiritual connection with mother earth.
Like I said, not everyone, but there sure are many Prius drivers who live out the negative stereotypes.

I dislike the Prius (and all Foreign cars) because I like to support American built and made products. Do they make good cars.... Sure. Not my cup of tea.

Oh and my grandfather would strike me down from the heavens if he found out I was driving a Japanese car. You know.... Kamikazes and all

You are such an idiot, I don't know how the hell you ended up to be a Mustang owner. I never understood how anybody would buy a Prius, I would have more respect for it, if it got 100mpg but only gets around 50mpg which a TDI jetta gets with more comfort and more room. But I would like to know more about the Volt, an ex-Prius owner that I know, hated his Prius and ended up with a Volt, he is claiming that he has done 1000 miles so far and only used 4 gallons of gas and $1.5 per day of electric charge, if this is true that would be cool to have.

ive been saying this for years. people are better off bringing an old big block vehicle back to life and getting less than stellar gas mileage and it will still have much much less impact on the environment than building a new prius and all those gad damned batteries that those things require. [patriot]

FORD for the win...............again and always!

The VW TDI is inferior to a Prius since VW's in general have poor quality and reliability. Its very common for VW's to start falling apart as soon as the warranty runs out. A Toyota on the other hand will only need fluids and filters after the warranty runs out while a VW is busy setting check engine lights and breaking parts. VW reliability has always been in the toilet. Crappy cars.

Cobraracer46

Would you so kindly do us all a favor and leave this site for good. I'll even help you out. http://priuschat.com/threads/group-buy-for-sf-bay-area.98185/
I'm sure there are tons of people on that site that you would agree with on your political stance, along with your love for all things lame.
Just think of all the great friends you could make. Think of those Prius/Hybrid/Subaru meets you can set up. You might even meet that left wing, Subaru outback driving, whale saving, fur hating, abortion having girlfriend you've been looking for....... Unless you're looking for that left thinking, passive aggressive man to cuddle up next to at night.
Whatever floats your boat. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say, " We just want you to finally be happy Janet. "

Same concept as the Cmax and Fusion energi. I have a customer that has gone 1900 miles on her new CMax energi and has used less than half of her first tank.

And before anyone points out that Consumer Reports left CMax as the last car on their list, please research and remember that they also named the Camaro the number one pony car in America a year before it stopped production. Thank you, come again.

How convenient that they run out of warranty THEN the car acts up. That's either a genius auto maker or an idiots assumption.
Toyota had its midlife crisis, they hit their wall. That's why they now offer free maintenance plans and 0% interest on most models: they have to have incentive to buy their cars because they aren't reliable anymore.
Honda is a good example of "always been reliable". There are good cars out there that aren't American made (blasphemy I know) unfortunately the Prius isn't one of them. Horrible for the environment, behind in battery technology and ugly as fuck.
