Hc means hydrocarbon basically you are running rich depending on what kind of car it is you might wana check timing , injectors,o2 sensors, fuel pressure regulator

interesting how high the nox is at 15mph compared to 25mph. def would give it a quick tune-up and follow sacstangs instructions. possibly even run some seafoam etc through it and retest.

Two main reasons:
1. It's a pile of junk
2. Too many miles

Have you thought about donating the truck to a non profit organization?

that not realy gonna do anything if you look at the VIR (vehicle inspection report) his HC are high and his CO is low wich is a clear sign of the truck running rich the cat can only do so much

Guess I shoulda posted to do this after his tune-up and new parts are thrown at it cause believe me this helps! Had California state referee teach me this after my factory cats just weren't cutting it,did this the next time I went in and passed like a hybrid....

Oh yes you are 100% right in order for the cat to work properly it has to reach operated temperature I was just pointing out that he was running rich and that in this situation the cat canot lower that much hydrocarbon [patriot]

A proper tune up should always be in order before a smog testing. Also add around 1-2 gallons of e85, the ethanol will help it pass.

Solid tune up. Air & fuel filter. Oil change and filter. New plugs. Check timing. Check PCV and EGR system if applicable.

Run a bottle of fuel system cleaner like Royal Purple Max-Clean. Run the lowest octane fuel you can without getting knock/detonation. 87 octane is fine in 99% of gas cars on the road.

Make sure the catalysts are at operating temp at the time of the test.
