And if so what parts are needed or is it better to just swap in another motor

Ive never done it but It is possible some of the things you will need is:

upper and lower efi intake manifold
fuel rails
injectors
distributor for efi
I think maybe even a computer.

Fuck that, just install the parts that are missing. Your car was fuel injected, so its not rocket science. There are enough guys on this board that part stuff out, swapping F.I. back to your car is as simple as reading a repair manual.

Or, do like so many others have done, have your car professionally repaired and sue the previous owner for the money. Its Illegal to sell a non smog legal car in CA. Trust me, you can cornhole the previous owner for all ther repair costs, no problem.

I picked up the car for 29 the smog isnt a problem for me i was just thinking of fuel injection becuase its easier to start . But carbs, are alot easier to tune and mess, with then fuel injected motors. I found a shell soon after i bought the car and im going to Seattle for 2 weeks for work and might buy something over there who knows just want money to build something of my own . I priced the car at 28 which is fair and was going to give buyer smog hook up

The previous owner sounded clueless about the car he said the motor was from a 95 its a rebuilt 91 . The guy that built it called me trying to trade me a 94 cobra clone
