Make sure it's a recall and not a TSB.

pretty sure its a recall:

Recall ID # 10V075000 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK
Recall Date:
MAR 03, 2010

Model Affected:
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER

Summary:
NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.

Consequence:
THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

Potential Units Affected:
80689

Recalls apply regardless of warranty status. Call another dealer.

A recall is a saftey issue regardles of warranty
I am the second owner of a 02 volvo S80 T6 executive the car was out of warranty and I recieved a letter from volvo stating that a seal from the pump to tank was found faulty and I needed to drive the car in to get fixed free of charge no matter mileage or condition of the car

this is the letter my dad got:
Dear Nissan [Frontier, Pathfinder, or Xterra] Owner

Nissan is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. With that in mind, Nissan is extending your vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty on the fuel gauge sending unit.

On certain specific Model Year 2005-2008 [Frontier, Pathfinder, or Xterra] vehicles, an issue with the fuel sending unit may cause the fuel gauge to inaccurately display the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. This usually results in the gauge not reading full when the tank is filled. While the majority of vehicles will never experience such a malfunction, to help address this potential issue, Nissan is extending your vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty as it applies to the fuel gauge sending unit from 36 months/36,000 miles to 72 months/72,000 miles.

Please remove the sticker located on the bottom of this letter and place it on the cover of your Nissan Warranty Information Booklet to remind you of the warranty extension, should you ever need to use it.

If you have previously paid to have your fuel gauge sending unit replaced for this issue prior to this warranty extension, you may be eligible for reimbursement of the related expense.

i guess to them its not consider a safety issue, so i called nissan consumer affairs made a after warranty case they called back after reviewing the stuff said they werrent going to cover it.

so i said' we wasted 40k on a pos nissan that you guys have a recall and cant fix a 200 dollar part!!" the recall was back in 2010 and they waited for the last few months to send the letter [BS flag]
