Which gears would be better for my daily driver. Which would still give me the same mpg or increase it? What are the pros and cons of both 3.73 and 4.10 gears. Any help for me too make up my mind thanks.

This has been asked 3 trillion times, go to google and search, the answer is not 3.73, he doesn't even know what if you have an AOD or a 5 speed.

I have been but I like to ask you guys for your recommendations. It's 5 speed

3.55

I think you need to be thinking 3.55 vs. 3.73 and if you couldn't figure out that 4.10s might be a bit much for a daily driver by searching you might need to read a little more.

Did you notice a change in your mpg?

If you're worried about MPG leave the car stock.

Or even 6-speed. But I would agree with 3.73

Oh my god! What's is up with 373's and b cams? Is that the only recommendation you guys know? Of you have a 5 speed and want to somewhat keep your mpg where it's at but get some kick off the line go 355.

i got 3.73 regreat not goin 4.10's do you do alot of highway driving? i daily drive my pos but usually just street driving. 4.10's will give u better mpg in city bc u can use 5th gear and mpg is really that different probably 1-2 difference.

here's a few treads for our 99-04's

373s are excellent for highway. Never had 410 but could imagine revs getting high at 80 mph

MPG is not even affected, its how you drive it

every one of my 5.0's got 21-24 MPG if i drove it cool whether they had 2.73 or 4.10

each bump in gearset will run you about 250 rpms higher then the one below it in any given gear. thats a rough number, but your looking at 1000 rpms higher total in any given gear if you swap from 2.73 to 4.10

here are some facts, to dispell some of the retarded rumors you may have heard...mostly from people who used 3.55 and want you to waste your money too cuz they feel bad about themselves

1) you will NOT have to shift into 5th in a 1/4 mile with 4.10's

2) you will NOT tach 4k doing 60 you tach about 3000 doing 70-75

3) you will NOT get 10 mpg, well you will,,,,cuz you'll be in it all the time. but if you drive cool you'll do 21 mpg

4) a stock 3.73 car CANNOT lift a tire on slicks, but a stock 4.10 car WILL lift about 6" (that alone should sway you)

so although the gearing is close...4.10 is optimal for a NA car looking to squeeze every tenth it can

its not worth bumping a single gearset, so make sure you do it right the first time

thats my 2 cents, im on my 6th stang and i will NEVER use anything but 4.10

*** and before someone says "i used 3.55 and it was way better than stock" ***

well of course it was.....and if a starving ethiopian found a rotten big mac he'd eat it and love it, but it doesnt make it delicious. it just makes it "better than starving"

Bob is right if it's a stock or slightly modded car. If you're putting down 600, 700, 800, or a 1,000RW down you won't want a 4.10 gear or at least for a street car.

For a n/a car go 4:10s the rpm incress is only going to be 300-450 above what it is stock.but the gears will wake you ride up alot
