I'm going to be buying a new battery since the current battery I have now is a tiny bit too big so it's broken two battery trays N I'm not about to replace another. So that being said anyone know the part number for a red top optima battery that will fit my '86? Thanks [patriot]

Optima doesn't have hella different batteries it's just one size and then they add side post and top post.

They have kits so you can hide them in the fender

Why not? It would be ALOT safer in the trunk and if your hood gets popped by a thief he/she will be like wtf.

the most common is the sc34du, which is the 34/78 group size dual terminal, that one is smaller than the tray and i think would need a different hold down

and there is 20 different optima batteries, at least through interstate

I bought the Optima Red Top SC34A last year for my 89 after my other Optima Red Top gave out after 9 yrs and 7 months of use.

Depending on the height, length, and width you need.
http://www.optimabatteries.com/optima_products/redtop/specs.php

The difference between the 34 and the 34R is which side you want your +and- post on.

hey u know u can go down to kragen/oreileys, autozone, napa (but anything at napa is 2-3x as much if you dont have a commercial act.) and pick up a yel. red. or blue top optima right? if you can find someone with a commercial acct it kragen has killlller deals on batteries, if your in vacaville anytime soon i have a kragen commercial acct. that your more than welcome to use! or hit autozone fiind out how much they charge for an optima, bounce to kragen, they'll beat that by 10% or 5$, call autozone while at kragen tell them kragen has it whatever amount less than you do, and so on and so forth, if your slick u can get 20,30, 40 bucks off of the battery, u jus gotta switch up who you talk to! I got my optima redtop from vic hubbard. They had the best price at the time. One thing, keep your old battery. If you ever drain down that optima, you have to wire the old battery in relay to charge it.

You could always just go down to ford and get a motorcraft battery. My old motorcraft lasted 8 years.
