Anyone recently have work done by CHP? im seriously thinking about getting that 347e smog legal stroker shortblock. They quoted me about 7200 for their shortblock, using all my current top end parts already, remove and reinstall motor, custom head labor, oil pump, timing chain, plugs, gaskets, fluids, arp bolts, pushrods, lifter set, dyno tune, etc...

is that a decent deal? and does anyone have a ballpark figure on private tow flatbedding it down to so cal?

That's a lot considering their shortblock is like $3,000. You're paying them big money to do the easy part for you. They'd probably knock most that out in a few hours. I honestly have no clue what shop labor prices go for but that just seems a lot to me. Maybe someone who owns a shop or uses shops for work can chime in if that sounds right.

Seriously, just deal with a reputable local shop. It's going to cost you a few more bucks but well worth it. I did a mail order stroker short block from a place that was highly recommended on the mustang sites and it's getting ready to go to a local shop in the next few weeks to have the issues addressed.

You may save up to $500-$600 by buying online but if the motor goes south it's more than $500-$600 to fix/replace it.
