anyone know how many points a paid auto loan will boost your credit score up by?especially if a loan was paid off in 6 months on a 3 year loan?

Not much even though you paid off a loan , you paid it too early, do you have any debt that your still paying on ?

I thought the shorter you pay things off the less credit you get? I've heard the only way to build credit is to just pay your monthly payment cause they do the credit check every three months

True but its better that you paid the car off rather than a repo

the way it was explained to me was it is good to pay off early but when they review it there is such a thing as too early. either way you will have boosted your score.

I highly doubt he will get it a report if he wants to pay the car off in less then 6 months, sounds like someone here has a good job, or is pushing some drugs [worship]

Thats pretty obvious...

Its hard to say how your score will be impacted without knowing your credit history. Lets say you had late payments/collections and you pay off the loan it might bring up your score some points but still keep it low as the negative out weighs the positive. If you have average credit you might get dinged some points . The whole credit rating is complicated and is not generic. You have to have some debt/credit to have a decent score but not too much. Your age, home, address ,salary, payment history, credit limits/amounts,debt to income all play into your credit score.

Wait about 45 days and sign up for a credit monitoring service trial that offers your 3 scores and allows you to cancel. Or just buy your credit reports

Trade lines less than 12 months hurt your score, trade lines 12 mo and more increase your score. Paid off accounts don't factor into your score much, they score you on your active accounts.

Its funny you ask this because I just looked it up myself. I have Bank Of America Privacy Assist. It a program I pay $13 for monthly and they monitor my credit and let me know if anybody is trying to open up credit using my social. And it lets me see my credit score from all three major creditors.

One of the features is called credit analyzer. You can put in just about any situation and it will tell you how it will impact your credit score. For instance, how many points will I loose if I open up a new line of credit, or how many points will I gain if I pay off all my debt and what not.

I then decided to see how much my credit would go up If I paid off the $1,400 I owe on my credit card and it said my credit would go from 750 to 810!!! It said that my crdeit score would go up 60 points by just paying off my card!

On the other hand I asked how much my credit would go up if I payed off my auto loan. It said my credit would go up a measely 2 points!!! WTF!!!!

So to answer your question, your credit will not go up as much as it will by just paying it off in 3 years.

well that sux that my credit score won't get any better but on the bright side my loan is paid off no repos to worry about and no monthly payments to worry about and im sure in the future it will be easy to finance another car knowing i have paid off an auto loan.

It has to be a minimum of 6 months to boost your credit. I tell all my customers if theyre gonna pay it off keep it for at least 6 months-8 months then poay it off. either way, it makes your next auto purchase easier and better to deal with. This way they wont make money on you with the interst rate.
