Just bought me a 29" mountain bike. Should be coming in tomorrow. Can't wait to get out on some trails. Where's the cool spots around the bay area to ride?

What kind? hard tail?

I've been out of the mountain biking game, but I'm assuming 29" means XC. There's stuff all over Skyline Blvd in the Santa Cruz mountains that is fun. Skeggs Point, Saratoga Gap, Purissima, etc. Don't know what's up your way in Vacaville though.

Trek Mamba 29er. Ordered it through my local bike shop. They didn't have my size instock. Idk why I have had such an urge to hop on a bike and ride. I've been riding my gf dads Gary fisher these past few sunny days. Went to the bike shop, and the guy had me hop on a 29 and I fell in love.

I think 29 means the size fof the wheels vs the 26 that we are use to. Marin county has alot of good trails. Tahoe is great...I had a blast at North Star. Like mentioned Santa Cruz has some great spots.

I got a bottle rocket coming next week. If you want im going to check out rockville, heard its weak, but its 15min from me if you want to go. Not sure what type of riding you like but there are A Lot of spots to ride in the bayarea. If u want to come check out rockville its a 15-20 min drive from vacaville.

Check out the trails around Stevens Creek reservoir, great trails.

Yeah 29 is the wheels size. Most MTBs are 26". I guess the new fad is 29er's, and im a follwer so I hopped on the wagon. Its a large difference in ride and handling. Idk how it feels on the trail, but just a quick ride around the block I could feel the difference between both.

Im so out of shape though, IDK if ill be able to keep up with anyone for a while. I think I may hit Santa Cruz with my buddy next weekend.

Great trails there but don't get caught speeding over 15mph.

I'm aware of 29 being the wheels size, but aren't most 29ers set up as XC bikes?

In the summer time, you gotta hit up Kirkwood. I think it's like $30 for a lift ticket and ride that shit all day long.

Theres a speed limit for bikes?
I did a downhill run and my friend had a little speedo on it and he said we were hitting 35-40mph.

Hayward Plunge Trail FTW!!!

Some openspace areas have speed limits. I got tagged doing 25 when the speed limit is 15 at Stevens Creek back in the late 90's. A ranger actually was standing in the middle of the trail with a radar gun.

The Marin headlands just after the Golden Gate bridge is the birth place of MT. Biking and the Marin headlands had plenty of fast and challenging trails to burn out your legs.
