I'm looking into a tank because I am sick of the fuel cell setup. They sell sumped factory 16 or 22 gal for my old mustang. I am leaning 16 but what do u guys think? It's a fuel injected but not drag raced just driven and enjoyed.

I'd get the 22

The 22 sits up inside the trunk. The 16 is flat...... If you want to drive farther.... Like LA. I'd get the 22 along with the armor kit.

You just have to consider whether or not you can afford to lose trunk space. If you do a lot of road trips, you may need the space for luggage. But if you road trip with a bunch of late models that get 20-30 mpg, the added range of the bigger tank will time your fuel stops pretty much on par with the newer cars.

The 16 gallon us flat at top of tank yes. But still sits lower than the frame rails. So the 22 gallon will be raised up about 1.5-2" but should still sit lower or even with the rails. I would get a stock 22 gallon and purchase the competition engineering sump and weld it on. Those tanks look over priced on that link.

+1. Tanks are $100, the sump is $66 and I've gotten quotes to weld on the sump for $100-$150.

You have to tig weld the stainless ones and I would say they are priced about right. It takes time to cut, prep & weld.
Time is money. [patriot]
