So My Mother in law & Father in law are getting a new saab suv and are hooking Me & the wife up with there 2001 BMW X5 "Black exterior & light tan leather interior. Also WE are giving My parent's our 99 caddy STS to keep the good karma going [Wink] . Just wondering if anyone has a similar model or might work at a dealership and has some helpful info on this ride. THe interior & exterior are at least 9/10 & cae has been garaged most of the time & they were pretty much finatic's about the maintenence, example instead of getting the free oil change service "gotta wait till the vicosity lite comes on" they paid to have it changed at 3500 miles & earlier this week they took it in for a break service, new strut's & shock's & anything else that needed to be taken care of. I am thinking about putting 150-200 into a seperate account for maintenence. All positive advice is welcome!

Be prepared for expensive repairs. My parents had a 5 series that's was a nice car but man dealerships will kill you on maintenance.

Everyone keeps saying " oh BMW ore so expensive to fix or parts" but really there not if u know how to work on cars. Shops love taking advange specially on German cars. I have a BMW and there many places online that sell parts at good prices.

phaedrus bmw in sf is a great indy shop...took my 5 series there for a waterpump replacement. cost was almost 1k though lol, but luckily i opted for the mechanical breakdown coverage (which i highly recommend if able to get it) so i only payed 180 outta pocket
