They see the CA plate, they'll come up to you right off the bat

You'll get used to it, then come visit CA and wait and wait until you remember nobody's gonna pump the gas but you here

So I'm guessing a shit load of people there don't even know how to pump their own gas. Do the people who pump the gas have to get certified or something? [Confused]

I was told the reason they have mandatory pump jockeys is to create jobs because there ain't shit going on in Oregon. New Jersey is the same way. I think NJ's deal is its a union thing.

Usually if you roll up on a motorcycle, they'll get the pump started and let you finish it.

Yeah I have tried a couple of times. It's been like that since 1951 and NJ has the same law. They also don't have a state sale tax.

Definitely catches you off guard the first time.

Legislators in Salem OR put a laundry list of reasons why the ban was put into state code:

People with training in pumping are better at keeping down fire risk
It is nearly impossible to enforce safety standards on the driving public
Seniors and disabled drivers can’t get adequate help at self-serve stations, and are instead forced to find a full-service outlet and pay a higher price
Oregon’s rainy climate leads to more slick spots at gas stations, meaning higher liability insurance rates
Decreased maintenance of pumps because they aren’t regularly monitored
Self-service contributes to unemployment – especially among young people
Exposure to toxic fumes is a health hazard
Toxic fume exposure is heightened for pregnant women
Gas drive-off thefts are cut down with the law
Children are sometimes left unattended when customers go to make payment

How much was the gas?
I'm willing to bet it was still less then the 4.25 I had to pay this week & I even pumped it myself. You would think what where paying we could get a handy or something............ Lightbulb!!!

Would you being willing to pay more for your gas, say 2 bucks more a gallon if a hot girl wearing a bikini pumped it for you?
I might have a new idea...... Capitalism FTMFW [patriot]

Again we in California are already getting fucked over for gas so adding a "pumping professional" would be perfectly logical for them to add another "tax" to the cost of gas.
