Who do you guys think would win in a fight. Considering about the same weight and size. Largest adult gorilla about 400 pounds, and a small grizzly at about the same weight.

I'll put my money on the bear because of the claws, but a gorilla could have enormous strength and it could out smart the bear.

What do you guys think?

Unless the gorilla is packing a 44 mag and a 12 gauge he will end up being a bear turd.

The gorilla might have a chance....if he ran away!

I think the largest grizzly (largest size for a male) is around 800 pounds in the wild (normal weight). The largest gorilla (I believe in captivity being fed vegi burgers) was around 500 pounds (with 400 tops in the wild). The bear is pure predator and the gorilla...well he is just more concerned about defending his territory and personal space more then anything else.

The bear wins hands down..even if you have to give a handicap to the gorilla by shrinking the bear by 300-400 pounds:)...

The grzzly wins on paper..but gorrila right hook is fierce..a grizzly can take a 357 mag the the skull and it won't penatrate tho

Posted by SLOWFOX (Member # 11067) on :

It depends...if am in the gorilla suit then the bear has no chance at all..lol..

Gorilla. dexterity, agility, ability to use objects as weapon, strength. Bear claws do present a problem, but it is mainly a one dimensional attack.

Bear it can run faster.

Posted by 1Sicgt (Member # 714) on :

Gorilla can get in the air, do better stratagic attacks. Plus gorillas when they fight use both hands as hammers to bash it's prey. Now not being carnivore doesn't make a difference. The gorilla is way more agile.

Bears can climb trees too, they use both their arms and their mouth and go straight for the neck. They can run faster uphill than down compared to a human. i think a Grizzly would slaughter a Gorilla.

Both are much too large to consider trees as a form of offense. I still say based on strength, intelligence, agility and ability to manipulate objects to be used as weapons the gorilla would win more often than not. Bears would not expect a boulder to the dome, or a drop kick to the chest after the gorilla having had moved quickly between low and high terrain. Too many intangibles for the bear to deal with.

But

In a open area with nothing in sight. I may have to change my vote. But in a typical wooded area or even a more tropical surrounding I am still going Gorilla. This is also assuming each is equally agitated with the same motivation (protection of their young). Gorilla, by nature are pretty docile animals.

"If I'm ever in a fight with a bear don't help me ni$$a help the bear "

But I say gorilla if the bear enters his area. Open ground the bEar might fuck up the gorilla.

A grizzly would easily dominate 110% without a doubt

Posted by 04cobra408 (Member # 4025) on :

im going to say gorilla because i think it would go for the balls and eyes then start tearing limps off before the bear could recover

Posted by uh0h50 (Member # 3125) on :

Have you guys seen what a freaking monkey can do to people/other animals. I wouldn't want to see the end result of a gorillas opponent. Those fuckers are strong and smart! Grizzlies are awesome animals though.

gorillas got that rage.and more upper body strength. prolly kill the bear

Posted by fredfifty (Member # 10320) on :

let me add, the gorilla is ground and pound...it would be easy (for the gorilla) to knock a bear over standing on its hind legs...then its curtains for smokey.

imo

if the gorilla doesn't land the first crucial strike, the bear has tactical advantage (4 sharp paws) and razor sharp teeth, my vote goes to the bear, they've found bears that have had 45 and 40 cal magazines emptied in their chests/stomachs and they were still out doing work on humans and other prey. I'd say we pull up the statistic of how many humans get killed by bears and humans that get killed by gorillas.

Hippos kill more than bears? LOL.

I was just curious. I'm taking a anthropology class and the instructor was talking about great apes and Gorillas. Then I get home I see something about bears on TV. Then the question came up, who would win between a bear and a gorilla.

After further thought, I'll put my money on the Gorilla. Even at full adult weight for the bear. Here's why:

1) The gorilla has reach over the bear
2) The gorilla is more agile as well.

Here's a scenario. A bear somehow makes it to Africa and is looking for food after that long as trip across the ocean. He ends up in the Congo and sees a Gorilla. The Gorilla doesn't see the Bear as food but as a threat. The bear attacks, and the gorilla defends. The gorilla leaps and swings a punch at the bear, basically molly wop his ass. The bear is stunned but not hurt. The bear is limited by his reach and lack of agility compared to the Gorilla, so it's exerting all its energy chasing the gorilla as its bounding circles around the him and getting hit by hard as sucker punches thrown by the gorilla. As long as the Gorilla stays away from the bears claws and grasp, the Gorilla will take the bear after a long, fought battle. But even if the bear got a hit in with the claws or a bite, the enormous strength of the gorilla will get that bear off of him. But will probably die later due to too much blood lost. Gorilla FTW. LOL

Africa is also the only continent that doesnt have bears [Wink]

Just throwing this out there since the Grizzly is not the largest and fiercest bear...how about a polar bear:

Average size (770-1500 pounds..close to 10 feet in height).

I know the gorilla is very strong..but I also know he would be smart enough to run away FAST if he encountered a 1500 pound bear. If the gorilla tried to do some ground and pound they are going to feel like love taps to the bear like he gets from other polar bears when playing around [Big Grin]

again to my point, bears have been found with multiple magazines of 9mm .40 cal, and 45 pumped into them and that didn't stop them from mauling the hikers that fired upon them, I don't think a gorilla would keep charging after half a magazine from a 1911 45, but I could be wrong, now the real question how do we trap a bear and a gorilla and find out the real answer, maybe we should just make roy nelson fight kimbo slice (bear vs gorilla).
