Currently have a 92FS Beretta w/crimson trace laser, I love this gun, just feels nice to me. I want something a lil bigger, I have narrowed it down between a Beretta .40 cal or either Kimber .45 or Springfield .45. Anyone own these? Pros cons.

Dont bother with how i should get a glock!

Thanks for any info, oh and decent price ranges too.

I am a big fan of 1911 pistols..... I have an old worn out WW2
model but it's fun to shoot.... I'll let you shoot it if you want.

1. Get a Glock!

2. Unless you have a ton of money don't worry about the Kimber my Springfield does the same for half the money.

3. Depending on what you want it for .40 is cheaper then .45.

4. If you want a great out of the box .45 the Sig P220 is an awesome weapon unless you want a 1911.

From everything I've heard about pistols from police friends you can't go wrong with a Springfield!

That's what I want but I think it's springfield that has the 1911 not smith and wesson

S&W and in fact most manufacturers have 1911's it the most widely replicated handgun frame out there.

I used to have a Springfield GI 1911 ($500). I couldn't figure out why anyone would pay $1200 for a 1911 (My buddy's Kimber Gold Match II) until I shot his. [Eek!] The difference is night and day. If you got the cash, the Kimber is awesome.

Now I sold the Springfield and bought an RIA Tactical in 9mm. Awesome pistol for $550 OTD.

Bigger for what reason? Home Defense, etc? If it's just a fun gun, bring it to irvington arms, they do crazy stuff to CZ75's/92fs and will make them shoot like a dream. They have a full line of czsp01 shadow and other comp guns

Get a Glock 30sf 45 cal. Thats what I have. its lightweight, small and easy to conceal. super reliable! I chose this over the springfield

if your on a budget the 1911's you are interested in will be far out of reach. .40 will be cheaper then .45 by quite a bit and will be easier to find. of course 9mm is the cheapest out of the common auto ammo but you already have the beretta.

what is your price range? what are you looking for target pistol, home defense , hunting side arm , ccw pistol etc. once you have these figured out it will narrow your search quite a bit.

all the leading gun manufactures have their own 1911. matter a fact ruger has been manufacturing frames for a lot of the leading manufactures and will be releasing their own 1911.

1911's are made by:

colt
sig sauer
springfield
taurus
kimber
wilson combat
para ordnance
sti

just to name a few. a 1911 can range anywhere from $500-$8000. yes $8,000. for those who watched top shot last season that full out race gun they used i believe it was the razor cat, goes for about $7,800 of course if you have one your rich or a sponsored shooter.

Not looking into a gun for home defense, i just want something that looks badass and has some umph when i shoot it. I really want a 1911 style .45, but at the same time im already familiar with the Beretta style .40 and love the way the Beretta feels and shoots!!!

Hey Chris perhaps sometime we could hook up and blast some rounds or just put up some pics of what your .45 looks like.

if your on a budget not sure if they are CA approved yet but the para ordnance G.I. goes for about $600 msrp and is a quality unit. match grade 5" barrel and i think it will be hard to beat in the under $1000.00 1911 category. by the way a .45 will thump pretty good and a lot of recoil will be soaked up due to the weight of the pistol. and will be softer then its polymer/metal competition such as sig, glock,hk,smith, springfield. i know your not a fan of glock but i did shoot a glock 21c which is the full size .45 with a ported barrel and it was very managable!

CZ's are pretty nice! but i will never spend another $1 in irvington arms!

Can't believe nobody has mentioned (rock island) guns. Awesome guns! The only 1911 style pistol I would get besides kimber/colts....very affordable $450 and shoots just as good or better than the $1500 1911's. Phuck 40 cal it's a fence walkers Caliber... Go 45 [patriot]

And........glocks are the shit!

I got a 10 round magazine for it, looks pretty cool with it doesn't make the gun look weird. Shoots badass, made out of a light metal so it has a lot of kick

The Japanese didn't have a reputation for making cars either, but they had to start somewhere and now look at them. [Razz]

I was hesitant to buy an RIA too but mine hasn't hiccup'd yet. I used to have FTF issues with my Springfield and haven't had a single issue with my RIA yet.
