sn95 body style with a termi swap FTMFW!!!!!

the 99-01 uses better heads. if you end up supercharging the 96-98, those heads will be just fine. not the best N/A head out there, but mine seems to do well.

i prefer the sn95 body stye over the new edge style. JMPO. but would i mob the shit out of a 99-01

i think yes!

I'm partial to the 96-98's myself. It's a great time to buy either one though and you do have to go with a blower when you buy one. It really wakes em' up [Wink]

Just a few things to consider:

#1 - Looks is personal preference. I prefer the rounded look of the SN over the new-edge personally.

#2 - The 99-up will come with the C-heads which will give a bit more power potential (99-up will offer more low end torque which is why many of the 96-98 guys go with 4.30 or 4.56 gears to compensate). Both cars can make in excess of 300rwhp with just a few bolt-ons.

The popular NA DOHC set-up seems to be C-heads and intake + 96-98 cams... with bolt-ons, 330rwhp is not uncommon.

#3 - Someone correct me if I wrong, but sometimes in 2001, the tranny changed from the glasshouse T45 to the TR3650.

Other than this, I don't think you will find a huge difference between the two.

I daily drive a 96 Cobra with bolt-ons and 4.30s and love it. I've considered upgrading, but I can't seem to let go lol.

Absolutely agree, get that wing off ASAP.

Also the 96-98 Cobra prices are very good right now. You can find good examples out there for $5-7K which is a bargain for this car IMHO.

96-98 Black/Black Cobra coupe is my daily driver. Not a fan of the 96-98 GT's but love the the 96-98 Cobras lowered on some 18s. Not to mention the DOHC motor is very different from a 5.0 but a blast to drive.

1999-2001,hands down, unless you want 2 valves spanking ya. [Wink]
01's look better cause they say Cobra not Mustang on the rear bumper like 99's.

01 also uses a stronger IRS system. more splines on the shafts. ( for her pleasure )

i like the 99-01 cobras just a little better. irs is sick for everyday use cuz you can drop the shit out of it without sacrificing ride.

for the price though, the 96-98 have better deals since theyre older. just depends if you like 99-01 enough to spend the exta cash.

I'm out there ever once in a while in the Cobra but that's not me. Mine says "COBRA" across the windshield in worn lettering and has silver "COBRA" inserts in the back bumper. A couple things I will change but not until I get my 5.0s squared away. Until then the Cobra is just the DD beater........lol.

Of course how can I forget #4, SA vs IRS.

Again that comes down to personal preference along with what the intent of the car is.

car will be a daily driver so i doubt it will see too many mods just the normal gears.exhuast. nd maybe a tune

I've had several sn95 platforms so I'm very biased to this body style. I just dont like the square and bulkiness of the new edges.

As far as motors go, yes,the 99-01's have a little more power but nothing the 96-98's can't obtain [Wink]

SN95 FTW... You should try picking up "SSF SVT" old cobra... 96 blk/blk cobra with an 01 cobra swap on 10 anniversary black wheels... Somewhere around $7000.. That thing was nice.

I'm always going to favor the 96-98. Like you said with the right touches, they look badass! Put that with a termi...holy smokes...one kickass ride! But even a centrifugal sc on the 96-98, with a nice stance, nice wheels and clean exhaust, that's the winning ticket in my book!

Then there's the 03/04 cobra, my ultimate SVT...but that's a whole thread in it self!

I'm sorry a cobra without its wing look's like a v 6 stang thats what I think.

I'd rather have a 99 cobra over the 96-98's cuz of the styling and the IRS. But for the price, the sn95 cobras are nice. If u can find a clean 99 cobra for less then 7k, that's a great deal.

On the same topic, I also rather have a new edge cobra over a Mach 1 just cuz of the IRS and front bumper.
