So i get a call last night from my sister saying the dog killed a racoon. they've been going at it for a few weeks now but my dog finally got to it. he was throwing it around like it was a stuffed animal which was kinda funny lol. after looking at my dog, he looks fine. no bites or blood anywhere. should i still take him to get checked? he's a german shepard and is about 130-140lbs if it matters

If you care I would definitely get him checked out! Racoons are nasty disease carrying animals. I'm sure your not gonna want to pull a cujo or old yeller... Or at least keep a close eye on him and make sure his eating habits, attitude, and what not don't differentiate from its usual characteristics.

my rotts used to kill possoms all the time n 1 or 2 racoons, they used to ripped there heads off lol never took em to the vet because they were always up todate on there shots

Here's a list of what my dogs have done over the years:

Jack Russel: killed rooster and a few squirels
Jindo: Killed, then ate a turtle ( It had a soft spot on it's shell/ sister was pissed.) Killed a few baby possums too.
shar-pei mix: killed one of our small dogs. RIP Lilly also killed baby possums.

Lucky for me the only times I've had to take them into the emergency vet was after one ate some rat poison and another one tried to eat a spider and was bit. They are just like kids..... Always gettng into trouble.
