So the previous owner of my 89 gt told me it had a 306, while installing my clutch i ran into a stamp on the side of the motor stating remanufactured in 2005 thats it how do i know for sure whether it is a 306 or not. previous owner also stated it had a world class in it but couldnt find the vin# on the tranny to confirm, wheres the vin# at?

A 306 Is just a 302 bored .030" over, I guess the only way to really tell would be to pull the heads and measure the bore.

So being bored .30 over wouldnt that add torque or horsepower in anyway, does it make a big differance Or lil. I seem to be faster than other stangs with more bolt ons. So how much more power does that give me

i thought i was a better driver too, but sounded pretty cocky, but being a better driver doesnt get you 1 1/2 cars on an 2000 ls1 from a dig lets get real, im estimating i got like 240hp to the rear wheels, all stock at flywheel is 225hp. Ls1 at the flywheel is like 305_310 hp at the flywheel. So does anybody know what a refresed 302 “306“ gives out

I redone 306 with the same factory shit, wouldnt make enough power to really make a difference. If they milled the stock heads and added compression, or went with a flat top piston you could get some power there. Whats it got for bolt ons?

What's the combo? How are we supposed to guess how much HP it makes with only knowing it's a 306? [Roll Eyes]

just take it to a dyno and see how much its putting down [patriot] n dont all 5.0's come with a world class t5

BBK equal lenght headers, single chamber flowmasters, Pulleys, bbk fender cai, alum radiator, cobra rear end 3:73 bbk lowering springs, advance suspension subframe connectors/tribar, 275s tires, world class t5,stage 2 clutch

Throw a compression tester on it to see if it's higher than stock , could have some aftermarket pistons in it. My 306 had dss prolite pistons with 10:1 comp it ran pretty good had other mods too but just talking about 306 parts here

You probably weigh a lot less than the ls1. Stick vs Auto. Gearing. Lots of variables besides hp.

That LS1 driver can't drive. I'm just bolt on and I don't mind lining up.

I built two 302s, one .40 over the other .30.

An entire 302 makes 225/300, think 4 cubes is going to make anything? .30 is about the size of a fingernail.

The whole misconception that a 306 is faster is nonsense, the only real reason an engine is bored over is when simply honing it won't suffice as the walls are too messed up from the previous owner beating on it.

I wouldnt mind either, but are u talkin about an ls1 or your 240. I wasnt expectn at all to beat an ls1, it was just i beat two 50s in a row and figured i needed to come down so i wanted to see how close i can get to beatn a ls1 but ended up w/ a win, oya!

It's all about the build though if you change the comp ratio it would make a diff, also I think most people think it's the 4 extra cubes but more than likely if your putting a 306 together you usually change the cam, heads , and supporting mods which add to the power gains more of an overall package thing
