I have been putting up tidbits of information here and there but decided to put it into one post that i can update. Me and the boys at Nor-Cal's finest AED have been putting together a nice combo for this summer. Today me and Shaun finally started assembling the motor since all the parts are in. The best part about the whole build is that Shaun has been teaching me a lot and even allowing me to help in the build process. Something i dont know of many shop owners to do. I have been taking my time with the build and accumulating the right parts for a stout setup. Along the way i have gotten some good deals on items like wheels (Jordan0806) and a modified FPDM (Black306). Also had many people listen to me whine and complain about how much i miss my car (Shaun, Drew, Epik, Streakmatt, 93Reefblue50, Red@7k, Ugotsmoked, etc). Here are a few shots of some parts to be installed.....

Here are a few of the car itself. I have a shoot setup with an actual photographer once it is done and tuned. Need to install the polished exhaust, custom heat exchanger, decals, etc...






The motor should be a pretty legit pump gas setup that will make over 650rwhp through the cats and still pass smog (hopefully). I wont speak on the complete setup, but will put up a general breakdown come dyno time. I have told a lot of people different things to keep them guessing. Let me know what you guys think

And here are some shots of the work me and the owner Shaun did today. I was legitimately scared of assembling a modular motor due to its complexity compared to a pushrod. But once Shaun had me start installing the cams, chains, etc its pretty straight forward. I wouldnt do it on my own anytime soon though.

Thanks bro. I really wish you were closer man. I got a bunch of parts from the build i am bout the clean and would love to powdercoat black. All my brackets, timing cover, etc. If you can bro shoot me a pm with some pricing. If my money is right i might have you set the engine bay off.

Dan I wish I was making big money. Graduating this december though so hopefully I will be soon. I have the luxury of staying home while in school so the parents cut me some slack while I build the car. Been working a shitload of OT and selling/trading my stock parts. Income taxes were on point, raises at work, and some other funds I had coming too me. All worked out right on time.

We went with the Aluminator on this setup too. Nothing like shaving weight off the nose to make it a little faster and more nimble

Honestly fellas Shaun is doing me a major favor in helping me put the car together. Without help on his end it would of taken much longer. I don't know many business owners who would extend themselves like he is to help a customer. I will seriously be a lifetime customer

I like this. But you know with the stock 3.5 pulley and ported heads I should only see 15-16 lbs of boost making 650+ on pump gas. Now a 3.0 pulley on a little race gas or E85 + some timing and were talking way over 700. And of course I could take off my cats. I left a little room to grow just in case

Honestly tho that sounds bad ass. Im a little flattered to be racing cars like that

I have no doubt that your Cobra will be stout. You're putting her together with the right parts. I'm glad you left some room to grow. I did too. My 427 should be good for around 550 to maybe 600... all motor. I plan on running a progressive controller for the nitrous. That will be particularly useful if I decide to bring out one of the bigger bats. My setup will be good for 750 with the smallest shot. That leaves another 400 hp to handle the bullies like yourself that feel the need to pick on a senior citizen like my Fastback.

I find it pretty funny that my nitrous kit is easily capable of adding a C6 Z06 to my small block lurking under hood.

LOL. If I had the skills to handle all the fab work (TCI Mustang II front suspension, TCI torque arm rear suspension, mini tub, mild cage) and body work, the damn car would be done already. I have a good friend who is both talented and cost effective. The downside is that he's a one man shop and he's slow.

On a related note, I ruined some poor guy's day with the Raptor a couple weeks ago. Two buddies and I were heading back to the office from lunch. Apparently, the fool thought his RX-8 would handle the Raptor and beat me to the merge. He had that little chainsaw rotary spinning for all it was worth. Once I realized what he was up to, I unleashed the Raptor and yanked him out of the hole. Then I continued to slightly pull on him until well past where he needed to merge. I'm convinced he went straight to the Mazda dealership and traded that thing in.

Dan I wish I was making big money. Graduating this december though so hopefully I will be soon. I have the luxury of staying home while in school so the parents cut me some slack while I build the car. Been working a shitload of OT and selling/trading my stock parts. Income taxes were on point, raises at work, and some other funds I had coming too me. All worked out right on time.

We went with the Aluminator on this setup too. Nothing like shaving weight off the nose to make it a little faster and more nimble

Oh yeah man pops is an old school gearhead too. Used to write the technical manuals for ALLDATA and helped me whenever I had problems with my other cars. This one was a little more than either of us could handle so he knows what's up.

Sounds like a great build wish I could have a termi and do all these mods but everytime I want to do a major mod to one of the Stangs it's time to pay the mortgage or it's time to pay this expensive grocery bill or it's time to put new windows on the house was about to paint the coupe and the wife said nope the house needs paint I told her how am I going to keep up with the peeps on cafords then she told me maybe I should sell one to fund the other so I kept quite but when she walked away I talked again saying I will paint her and get that tune I want damn it! But yea can't wait to see your car hit the track or a meet.

You said it right there man. With the builds a few of us have going we are gonna be a problem and a menace. Seeing the motor sealed up and almost complete was a good feeling though. I have seen how patient and meticulous you are with your cars though so i figured i would follow suit. As long as we all make it to this run in September im good.

Adower Man i cant tell you how glad i am you spelled immaculate correctly. I hate seeing that shit mispelled on here and CL all the time. Post up some pics of that bike man. i havent been on one in a little bit.

Cams are in I have the shortblock assembled. Just need to assemble the long block. I've been doing my suspension and am close to finishing hopefully by tomorrow. We installed the hydroboost 03 cobra steering rack. And did the hybrid 03 cobra pedals in the fox.

Thanks Fellas. The damn thing sure is healthy, but Drew fired it up just with the long tubes on so i could see it run. I wonder what it will sound like with the cat back and mid pipe installed. I should have some legit video soon once the exhaust is here. Once i get it back i need to install the suspension and brake parts so the stance and tire combination is right.

With the power level it should be at I should see mid-low 10's on slicks, mid-high 10's on DR's. One of the guys on SVTP went 9.80's power shifting on the stock 6 speed and stock half shafts in the IRS on slicks. His car made 725rw and he has a shit ton of seat time. I ran 12.0 my first time out on drag radials with 477rwhp. With my aluminum block and 200 possible extra at the wheel I should be able to drop a full second without "too much" trouble.

I'm in for over $1200 for just 83lb. injectors, Magnafuel 4303 fuel pump and Slot style MAF...and that's not including lines, rails, and filter which were already in my system....

Sorry guys. I should have said something originally. If you look on the graph the 725 tq was a spike at the beginning of the pull. Actual peak TQ was right at 590 rwtq.

Numbers are STD corrected and the pull was made with NO ice on the motor beforehand or in the IC system during the pull.

Thanks Fellas. It has been a long road and a long wait but it was worth it. Crazy thing is its only seeing 17 lbs of boost right now at max. Race gas with a smaller pulley will probably never happen, but it would be damn interesting. Not sure how i will sleep tonight..

I saw more boost than I was hoping for, but not 18.
15psi creaping to 16.5 by 5500, then a spike of 17 at the end of the run.
Just a tad more than we see from the 3.75" pulley on a stock motor, which is a steady 15 with a peak of 17 right at 7K.

Motors loosen up over time and gain power. We see an average of 4-5% more power after 7-10k miles.
Some more, some less. Depends on how tight the aluminator is.

The last aluminator gained well over 100hp over the first dyno tune @ 0 miles from the following:
Power pipe
Off road mid pipe
Relocated Maff (blow thru)
Relocated Large BOV
It picked up 2-3psi and power jumped from 460 to 600. It went from mid/high 11's to high 10's in the 1/4.

These motors are not built just for racing. They're built to last as long as a stocker, so they take time to loosen up.

Tune will also change slightly as the motor loosens. After the dyno pulls I fattened it up and pulled a little timing. In a few thousand miles I want the car back on the dyno for tune verification and adjustments. We should plan on a nice COLD winter morning and see what kind of #'s she's really capable of!

Rings seat much faster than people think.. I'm sure it was heat cycled a few times and the oil champed before these dyno pulls. Any car with a new motor will gain power after it gets some miles on it. It loosens up a some and will make more power. C'mon Casey....

Nah i decided to go with Long Tubes after seeing how restrictive they were at this power level. So its a no go on a visual, but good out of the pipe. The shortblock was the Aluminator from Ford and the rest of the assembly is all his doing. So ported heads, custom valvetrain, ported lower intake, fuel system modifications, GT cams with some adjustments and thats about it. A few other miscellaneous mods went into it but thats the meat and potatoes of the setup.

I dont know how you drive some of the fast cars you put out though. This is going to take a lot of getting used too. Good thing you helped me out with those brakes

Ryan man I'm lost as to what mufflers to get. I really like the magnapacks or 18in dynomax race bullet, but that's still gonna scream. Shaun recommended a chambered muffler which would sound good too. Maybe even a Borla XR-1. I still want a good note, just something not as loud. I mean I like the way it sounds but its LOUD. You guys will hear what I'm talking about on the cruise. Maybe I can listen to a few setups to get a better idea

It's one of those catch 22's isn't it, they are soo worth it but lol it sucks lol one of my buddies just got a ticket from CHP for tint the guy told him he was an officer and the chip said well we're not in your area are we? LOL what a dick!

And you know its the small stuff that gets you pulled over. Tint, no front plate, etc. Hell I even worry about my HID's sometimes

Ryan man I'm lost as to what mufflers to get. I really like the magnapacks or 18in dynomax race bullet, but that's still gonna scream. Shaun recommended a chambered muffler which would sound good too. Maybe even a Borla XR-1. I still want a good note, just something not as loud. I mean I like the way it sounds but its LOUD. You guys will hear what I'm talking about on the cruise. Maybe I can listen to a few setups to get a better idea

Its like going from dating the girl in the glee club to banging the prom queen. Your never ready for it, but you gotta man up and do it. I will for sure spend a lot of time learning to drive it before I get into driving it hard. My 6 piston brake kit came in today and that's going on ASAP

I never thought it would make the pwer it did and I can only imagine what it will do with the proper amount of fuel or on E85

T that input shaft upgrade was the best thing I have ever done to a trans. 5500+ clutch dumps on slicks and same on the power shifts like that's what the car was suppose to be doin.
