[Mad] damn so our car just got towed for not having tags from the street! yea i know my fault for not having the tags paid but we have been trying to pass smog and it just wont go..so we call the towing company and the want $400 just for half a day about and want $100 just to retrieve personal belongings( baby seat, money, wallets,etc) and if we leave the car there they are gonna charge us $4000 and send it to collections [Mad] WTF! This system is so flawed and they just wanna go take your money not caring what your situation is.....I just hope that karma comes and kills them all!! lol FUKC!!!!!

Something doesn't sound right about that, I don't think they can charge you to get your belongings out of the car and they'll just lien the car so its not your problem. They can't charge you $4000 because you can't pick up your car, I'd actually call the local PD and tell them whats going on and see what they have to say about it. There are a LOT of crooked tow companies out there, many get busted for doing illegal shit like picking your car up when its parked legal and charging you just to set it back down. Research it and figure out who you can turn them into for this shit, get their asses shut down for extorting money from people.

Yep i had to pay 400 dollars to get my Jeep out of impound after it got towed for tags 12 years ago. It only sat in the impound for an hour.

so i just saw this video of someguy who got towed and paid $88 in pennies !!! hahahahha so im gonna pay $100 in pennies and the rest in dollar bills as my payback and fuck u to them..this means they will have to sit there and count 10,000 pennies and by law they cant decline pennies because it is legal tender covering a debt. what do u guys think???

I paid $250 one time to get my truck out it was impounded for 7hrs... I was like WTF!! & to top it off they scratched my truck but they tried to deny it & didnt do anything...I had better things to do

235 for the tow.
117.50 for the after hours/ weekend gate fee.
65.00 per day for storage.

after 30 days of storage @65 your storage your at 1950
then you got a lein fee probably 70-100

so your at 2285 with out a gate fee.

go to dmv monday get your temp moving permit and get your car out.

How can they make you pay for a service you never asked for? My boy had a car impounded never went back for it,car was auctioned and months later he received a collections notice. He called them and told them to stop sending him letters or he would take them to court. The lady told him he had to pay or they would report to the credit agencies,he told the lady to send him proof where he asked/authorized/signed for the tow and storage fees.never heard back from them again doesn't even show up on his credit report.

As far as the gate fee,most tow companies make money charging stupid fees. You might be able to negotiate getting your property if you surrender the title if you don't plan on getting it out

Best part about you paying them in pennies is that YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO COUNT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! They are paid to be there, whether counting your pennies or not so if I were behind that counter I'd definitely f up the count a few times to keep you there even longer.... Your call [Wink]

the tow rates are set by the police department of the said city. light duty rates then there are med and heavy duty rates. you think 300 or 400 is bad.

san mateo county constantly has stings set up to bust illegal tows. chuck finney is the DA in charge of it. he know who the crooked companies are and who are not. most all of the bad ones are gone now.

you want somthing to cry about try living in a complex tht has robellos as your tow company...... good luck

If they were charging an unlock fee then why not just bring in your keys and unlock it yourself? Most likely that charge was exactly what most are saying, an after hours gate fee. If you go during normal business hours, there would be no charge. Also you would need to obtain a property release from the Sheriff, PD or whatever agency authorized the tow and ONLY if you are the registered owner.

And as far as the paying with pennies, it would be hilarious, however yes they can refuse to accept it.

Back when my family and I were living in Concord we got our Toyota stolen. A week later we got a call from the police. The car itself was recovered the same day, but it took them a week to give us a call. I remember my dad went Ape shit on them. Stupid tow companies,nothing but thieves.

That is a youtube video, holds no legal merit, you can find isolated events via internet in any situation. Apple/Mac Corparation does not accept anything but Credit or Debit cards and they are a multi-billion dollar a year company.

Chances are someone that havent paid their past due registration costs and get their car smogged are not going to pursue any legal action from a tow company refusing to accept pennies in payment.

Dont get me wrong, Ive had cars impounded in the past. I do agree paying in pennies would be fukkin hilarious, I know how these tow companies operate and most of them are assholes hiding behind a 1" thick piece of plexi-glass with balls of steel. Take away the glass? Most likely the niceset people you would ever meet!

If I was the cashier at the impound yard I would at best laugh at you and tell you to pound sand. Another option is I'd tell you if you really want to pay with pennies you can go to the bank and pay to have them rolled up into counted coin rolls and come back with those. Then I'd probably push the 'dipshit fee' button on the cash register to add on 2% to the bill.

a girl thought it would be funny to pay me in 1's i made her count out into my hand hand in $20 increments roughly 600.00. i said" musta been a good night at work!" and she drove away in her car even more pissed. go ahead and play games. id tell you my boss wont allow us to accept cash. so visa/master card or certified cashiers check from your bank. tow companies must accept ONLY 2 forms of payment cash doesnt have to be one. you aren't the first person to try and pay with pennies.
