Well, I guess my plan to "leave it alone" failed just 3 days into ownership [Big Grin] I got someone who MAY want to cash me out for the Saleen wheels on the car right now but I'm trying to see whether or not to dump them.

I know that my wheels are very rare, especially in the size i have 18x8.5/18x10, but if I could replace them for some nice aftermarket wheels I just may have to.

Option #1: keep the wheels and powder coat them white. This will keep it looking like a true Saleen Cobra (too bad its still a clone [Razz] )

 -

Option #2: 19" BBS LM replicas (sorry about the wheels being cut off...thats the best pic the seller sent me). These are gray with a polished lip and include real BBS center caps. The rears actually have a deeper dish but my P-shop skills are horrible!

 -

Option #3: 18" iforged Aeros (sorry to bite of you Alex!)...If I get these I'm going to need to cash out a but more, which I'm hesitant on doing right now.

ide keep the saleen to kee the authentic look since it is a clone and the face they are real. i like the car pleas etake some real pics an dont mess with them. if you decide to sell them....go with the bbs those looks super sick. the car is sweet cause it has sick ass seats that im sure are expensive and it has a good clone job and its a 32v. for most part you get really good cars and have decent taste. i just wish you keep a car. but im like you{well i was} i get a car have my fun and flip it lol.

so keep the saleens unless you set on selling them or changing it up. if you do get top dollar and get the bbs and hopefully you get to pocket some money.

so get some pics and dont mess with them lol [patriot]

I actually have never seen the Speedline/Saleen wheels in white! That would really set it apart. The 99+ Saleens in white are badass too. I remember seeing a white saleen with blue graphics and 99+ wheels. It looked tits.

Saleens hands down

Posted by EPIK (Member # 7481) on :

If you decide to get another set of wheels, I would keep the original Saleens around because of their rarity. The LM reps would look nice, I think I saw those on CL the other day. The Iforged Aero's are very nice, but you can get True Forged Mach 5's that look almost the same, but are cheaper...

Posted by venomous99 (Member # 1917) on :

i may be biased but id go with the either the aeros or mach5s if you can fit it into your budget. figure u can get a set of mach5s for around 3k in 18s and add another 1k for tires.
saleens are nice but there is nothing to that rim that differentiates u from other saleens/faleens

here u go ian..just combine the wheels from the fobra to the faleen. lol

Sick Ride Venom. I was jocking the pics you posted elsewhere...it even looked badass on the flat bed.

Get the forged rims and swap out the body kit for the original Cobra body which I think looks better. Or leave it alone and save up for a termi and do that swap.

thanks bro...that flat bed pic was pretty laughable seeing a clean car being towed like that in near perfect cruising weather.

Well if I sell the saleens the guy knows I'm looking for $2k with tires...I know, it's expensive butbhey, he's buying them not me [Razz]

The BBS's are sick and very different from the crowd but they're replicas. Still look sick as hell, especiallynin 19", but I just don't feel 100% comfortable swapping some rare saleens for replica rims...

As for the iforged, they're actually the beat ones of the bunch, BUT they're a bit pricey. I found a set down south with new tires but it'll be about $1000 more than I want to spend since I'll need to get them shipped still.

Decisions, decisions...

if ur leaning towards the mesh look id browse the 350z/g35 forums for a set of racing hart C4's. they typically come in 19x10.5 w/ the correct offsets(22mm) to fit fat rear 315s w/out any clearance issues.
 -

the chicanes are also a nice wheel from trueforged but i think u can find a bettery deal on the racing harts.

Those are nice, but I cant stand how the centercap covers the lug holes.

thanks for the input bro! I feel you though...the aftermarket wheels will look good but it really does take away from the "good cloning" job that was done to the car...but bad ass aftermarket wheels will really set the car off, so I'm still torn.

ian to be fair, maybe u should state what your budget is so we can then recommend wheels. obviously, its a no brainer most would take an iforged wheel over a common saleen wheel anyday but we're talking about wheels that are 3-4x what a saleen would go for.

Ok...well IF the guy decides to buy my wheels, I told him $2000. My budget is reall $0! I really don't want to cash out anymore money...

The BBS replicas are $1900...he said $1500 no tires since he has some stretched tires in there right now. I found a few deals on CL for correct size tires so that'll be about $500 alone. So I'm looking at breaking even (hopefully) if I go this route.

The iforged I found are $2500 with tires! Yup it's a steal BUT shipping will need to be added so I'm looking at probably $3000+ after all is said and done. That's about $1000 over what I want to spend...

Posted by Jesse (Member # 312) on :

I'd keep the authentic Saleen wheels over BBS replicas like others have said.

I've been through multiple sets of wheels on my car and there is nothing worse than going from something that looks good to something that you regret. If what you have works stick with it; and the Saleen wheels work.

Here's my 1st SN95. I liked the white on white. Those were StangSuspension springs I had (Supposedly made by H&R, just a tad lower than the Sports), but if u can fetch $2k for them current wheels though, then for sure I'd be looking for a nice custom set with a deep ass lip. Or like Luke said, just sell the car! [Big Grin] That might be coming soon huh! [Razz]

yes, theyre 4 lug. caps would be nice to cover up a 4 lug pattern however. i never really tripped off the cover cuz some wheels look better with the lugs showing like a 5 star design but with these mesh type wheels id take one with or without a cap.

HAs Nyone heard of Linea Corse wheels? They seem to make the best BBS replicas and a lot of BMW guys run these wheels...anyone have info on this brand?

(The BBS replicas are Linea Corse rims)

I was about to ask the other day if they are Linea Corse wheels. I've heard of them. They're made by a guy local in the bay area. Wheeldude.com . I think the guys name is Zoeb, pretty stand up dude. They're only $1300 brand new for the LM Reps [Wink]

They will let you pick up rims too so you dont have to pay shipping [Wink] wheeldude.com started off a couple years ago a small website. To see how many cars have there wheels is crazy. I go to a lot of meets/shows and Rota's, Linea Corse from wheeldude are on everything! I've been waiting to see someone throw these on a 94+ mustang and see how they look

Yea, browsing through all these euro/import sites for nice wheels opened my eyes to new brands! THe LM replicas are pretty damn cheap for 19's...and they got the step lip which always looks sick! Just wondering how the're quality is...

ian if u like stepped lips u should look into a work meister m1. pretty nice 5 star from japan but its probably out of your price range.
as far as wheel application mine probaly wouldnt be a good example to follow since my the IRS is a lot wider than an sn95 rear.

for your car any of these offsets would work in the rear.
10" wide - 22mm or even less. 10" wide wheels on our cars still appeared sucked in but getting something lower than a 22mm if not common unless you look for a g35/350z

10.5" wide - common offsets = 22mm, 27mm, 28mm with less offset fitting better.

9.5" wide - common width for replica wheels. i wouldnt even consider anything less than a 10" in the rears on our cars.

11" - i used to run 11s on my old 95 and only had to flip the quad. unfortunately i dont recall the offset. im sure folks w/ CCW can chime in.

If I get a wheel that has G35/350z offsets, I think they're something like +15mm in front and +20mm in rear...I know this will make the wheels stick out a bit more, which is good since the 10" rims still sit in on sn95's...

Right now, I'm looking at 19x8.5/19x10 BBS LM replicas but I'm still unsure since they only have hyperblack or gold/polished lip in the size/offset that I need... [Frown]

The LM's are a stunning wheel, but I always viewed them as more of a Euro style wheel, so I am not sure how they would look on a Mustang.

 -

These Fikse's are hot:

 -

CCW's always brign down the house:

 -

 -

DD RK Plasmas always impress

 -

True Forged

 -

 -

Honestly, of all the cars I have seen, this 96GT absolutely leaves me breathless. I am in awe what these CCW Classics have done to the looks of this car (it's a 10sec car too).

 -

Even with all these awesome wheels, I still think I would keep your current wheels and just work on the stance. Something special about Saleens on a Saleen.

Thanks for the pics Luke! All are very nice in their own way! I'm thinking LM's in white [Eek!] My potential buyer is being really puching about taking the saleens off my hands so I'm trying to find something nice to replace them with...but I'm not gonna settle for just anything! If not, I like my RARE speedlines , especially if I powdercoat them white [Big Grin]

Keep the Speedlines... they're only gonna get more and more rare, and people restoring real, serialized Saleen's will pay whatever they have to for the real deal.

On the flip side, if you're gonna sell them as-is with good tires, ask for more than $2,000...

The ones that you see here where only made by Speedline and then Saleen. A replica was never made in this style.

As far as 99+ Saleen wheels there is a slight difference in the spoke and lip. Unless you really examined them, they look the same.

I've seen these wheels around for a lot cheaper than $2k BUT they dont have the 18x10 rears like me [Razz] Which is why I think the guy really wants them.

Although $2k is a lot of money and I know its more than enough for some replica wheels (ie: bullits, fr500s, etc), its slightly shy of being enough for high-dollar forged wheels...which is why I havent jumped the gun just yet...
