Yes. if they don't come stock with your car out of the factory they're illegal. Some cops are nice and let you go though

+1. I got them on my DD and have had no issues with leo yet. I dont see why they give out tickets if you run them, they only make it more visable for you. They should give you a rebate of some sort for being that much more safer. you run bright lights....ticket. you turn them off...ticket. Just another way to get money.

Shoot, I would pull you over for that weird whistling sound coming from your engine compartment.

If your car came with regular halogen bulbs then you have free form housings. These types of housings don't focus the light correctly to run HID's so no matter what you blind other drivers. Look at all cars that have HID's from the factory, they have projector headlights. My BMW came stock with projector headlights but halogen bulbs, the swap to HID isn't going to get me in any trouble. It seems the cars with smaller headlight housings like an SN95 don't blind other people so you can get away with it but a Fox headlight is too large so eventually you'll get busted.

I thought that 6k was the highest because it doesn't have a blue tint. Once the color of the bulb changes that when you get in trouble. Anyway, Ive been running 8k's for about a year and never any problems.

The California Traffic Court System extorts over a billion dollars a year from California citizens by keeping us ignorant of our rights. They confuse and intimidate us - Ignorant of their legal rights, confused and intimidated by the courts and police, 99% of Californians ticketed simply pay up. The courts also benefit from the inherent respect most people have for the police that keeps them from questioning the officers' often-arbitrary decision to issue a citation.

... to surrender without a fight: we collapse like a piece of IKEA furniture and meekly mail in the protection money hoping these bullies will leave us alone. By sustaining this proctological racket, California traffic courts rake in a small fortune for state, county, and local governments. Al Capone would be proud.

I have 6K's in one car, the other has 10K in the headlights and 8K's in the driving lights.

Dude get some projectors headlights and keep them properly set. I'm doing it for my girls Honda and my fox soon. Shoot, some people with Halogen headlights that point up and not pointed properly are illegal. And idiots driving with high beams are illegal. Don't worry, get projectors , don't go over 8K and keep them pointed properly and no use in worrying since I believe 99 percent of cops shouldn't mess with you.

legal or illegal you still get a ticket anywayz.
