I have a a few bikes, more into the mountain side of it but I'd like to get a nice road bike soon.

09 Iron Horse MKIII
 -

99 schwinn homegrown custom I converted to a singlespeed:
 -

and then my old Peugeot fixie conversion for riding around campus/town
 -

and if you've never been to bike party you can't really talk shit about it. I've been once or twice and had a lot of fun. Its basically the same environment you'd expect at a concert at shoreline i.e. drinking, partying, smoking (of various things if you so choose) and of course lots of hot girls [Big Grin]

oh yea, and if you're budget is tight for a road bike just keep searching craigslist. I've seen some smoking deals on some nice road bikes on there. I would advise staying away from the "walmart" type bike brands as they only make crap which will most likely fall apart on you after your first long ride.

I love riding, but some of those fucknuts in that party decided to play chicken with me one night while I was in my old truck. Mind you, this was at 9:00 in the evening and they had no lights on them. If you go, please ride safe.

My old bikes that were destroyed or otherwise totaled!
 -

My current fleet. The bike on top is a P3 Carbon with all the bells and whistles. the bike on the bottom was sate of the art in 2008! Full Sram red drivetrain, K force crank set along with Cervelo's best road frame; the Soloist super light. I have 8 grand in the P3 and just under 7 grand in the soloist.
 -
I can't afford a Ferrari F1 race car, but I can afford the same exact stuff that the pros race in the tour de France.

i wouldnt spend too much money on a road bike unless you;re pretty serious about riding. last thing ud want to do is drop 1k+ on a bike that is barely used. to lose weight running goes a long way and doesnt cost u anything.

Nice bikes cobraracer.

I ride a CF Trek Madone - really like everything about it, and a Specialized Stumpjumper hardtail on the trails. If you're just starting to ride, I'd recommend looking at something used, maybe something in the ~$500 price range. Basically, something you can ride around for a while and find out if cycling is something you're really interested in for the long-run.

Rookie,

I feel you. I started biking in 08 when the gas prices went up. I bought one for about 400 bucks at the time. It was one of my best investments for a healthy future. This year I plan to get more involved in biking with doing a few triathlons and hopefully an Ironman, so I'm going to need to upgrade mines. If I do, I'll be sure to hit up. If you haven't purchased one yet, I'll sell you mines for around $100 bucks.

Look into the "muddy buddy" race, they have it in san jose around May up at joseph d grant park up mount hamilton. Its a hella fun teamed ride and run race in the hills, and free beer after the race. [Whoo Whooooo!]

I rock a Gary Fisher or my GIANT. During the summer I ride my bike almost everywhere especially to the gym. I kinda wanna get one of the those trick bikes. I like doing wheelies and jumping stuff on my bike rides.
