The tire companies should really have a more widely used standard when it comes to these measurements.

I once compared my Goodyear 274/40/17 F1 to a 315 Sumitomo, and they were nearly identical in terms of width.

luke, there is a thread over on svtp about this. they have been gathering widths of all the popular brands and sizes. sumitomo and nitto always run thin. thats why u can put a 315 sumi on a 9 inch wide rim with no bulge. but a bfg 315 has a ton of bulge and is too big for a 9 inch rim.
