The other day I got in my 67 and didn't notice that I grabbed the keys for my 90. Guess what?

Yeah, started it right up. Same key pattern.

key lock cylinders wear out, the drivers side of my `91 can use the door key from my `89, but the passengers doesn't, and the `91 keys don't work in my `89...

Hella easy.

Door locks - pop the interior panels, slide the retaining clip, unhook the linkage. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Trunk lock - retaining clip, linkage, IITROR (same as doors except for the panels)

Ignition cylinder - remove trim, insert key, push in retainer, pop out cylinder, IITROR

Course it's actually kind of handy to have all the same key... [Big Grin]

I used to be able to pull the key out of my '66 while it was running. I am guessing the cylinder was pretty worn.

A 32 year old lock cylinder isn't going to be too picky about what key you put in it, my old 69 would work with most any Ford key. It was only the ignition, the doors had to be the original.

From what I've heard, Ford only used about 10 different key pattern for decades(not sure how accurate this is, though). I learned that the hard way when I locked my keys out during an autocross event and a guy with an '86 GT used his keys to open my door on my 82.

The key for my '96 GT started my '94, but not the other way around because of the PATS system.

Yeah its true! For many many years Ford has only had 13 master keys. So you will find your keys opening a lot of other cars lol!
