ok here's the story. just got done fixing my mom's car because it was overheating. took it out for a test drive it see if it would act up. by my house there's a long strench of road where i could get it up to speed and see if it stays cool. cop said I was going 54mph and the limit is 35.
I was speeding but I am so pissed because Im just trying to help my mom out and I get screwed. Off to traffic school I guess.
I am surprised that it did take me this long to get ticket. about 7 years of driving.
dam cops.

anyone know about how much the fine is? hoping less that 200 bucks

get ready for a bunch of asshole idiots to comment saying "well you were speeding blah blah blah" but besides that it should be around $200. What city was it in

Well I've had 5 speeding tickets and with you going nearly 20 miles over the limit it isn't going to be less than 300. Your lucky it wasn't 20+ miles over the limit cause they would have put a 30 day suspension on your L's. Do the school, its best

Oh and make sure you show up to court on the designated day or else its an extra 300 automatically

speeding tickets are cheap, but watch your insurance skyrocket [Whoo Whooooo!]

i think my last one was for 65 in s 40 or 45 and it was $138. AAA Insurance doubled thought, from 500 to 1000

tell me bout it man i had to put my car in my ladys name because my insurance was way to much just for liability it hit me 320 $ thats crazy

Ive had a couple speeding in the last year, they were 63 in a 45, that cost me $450. and a 74 in a 55 which was 460 before enrollment fees for traffic school, then also paying for school. and got lucky a couple days ago when I was pulled over for a 82 in a 65 but was let off with only a ticket for the lack of updated insurance card.. luckily with 3 "sports cars" and a "suv" my liability insurance for all 4 is $84/mo still [Big Grin]

It is worth a shot! ticket assasin worked for me aswell.

Use ticket assasin or just write up your own fight with trial by written declaration.
If you lose it, then file Trial De Novo, you'll get a court date and then hope the cop doesn't show so it gets dismissed. If he does show up, you can still get traffic school.

The flip side in my experience...

If you challenge it and go to court hoping that the cop doesn't show up, be aware that they usually slap you with a stiffer fine than if you would have pled guilty and shown an ounce of regret in the first place.

People often seem to miss this small detail.

With the budget crisis were in, courts are not giving very much leniency on speeding/moving violations. So might as well fight it.

Every judge is different.

I had one that specifically said if you try to fight the ticket, you will NOT get traffic school.

After that, I just school them. Yeah, you get fined, but at least your insurance doesn't go up. With a point on your record, insurance can go up $700 a year.

Haven't tried ticket assassin though, heard good things about it.

talked to a friend of mine who's dad is a chp sgt. and he said that the pittsburg judge is a dick and it is better to just pay the fine and go to traffic school. he said the judge could not let me take traffic school and could take my lic. for 10 days. He said that judge wouldnt reduce it and they are cracking down on speeding. he said the fine will probably be about 250 to 300 dollars.

after hearing this i'm just going to pay the dam thing and go to traffic school.

or you can fight it an the cop doesnt show up which means no fines and no points..some people dont have a choice..i got a reckless driving ticket 2 weeks ago and i cant afford to have my liscense suspended and insurance go up along with a hefty fine..so im pleading not guilty hoping the cop doesnt show..unless the judge would be willing to cut me some type of deal if i plead guilty.. [Big Grin] ...i doubt their that nice tho..

Got my first ticket back in June for going 80 in a 65.... after going to court I had to pay $230

When I was a kid (stupid) my first ticket was written up as "exceeding 100", so I had to go to court with my parents because I was only 16 or 17. I think the total fine was <$200 [Confused]

To this day, I wonder how in the hell that happened. My mom even asked the judge if he thought that was a harsh enough punishment - thanks mom.
