ive seen in court if you get insurance before you go back to court the judge might reduce it to a infraction and a lesser fine... [Confused]

I got one about 5 or 6 years ago and the fine was almost $800, it was going to be around half that if I got insurance before the court date. My insurance had just lapsed a month before I got pulled over so I paid it, got a letter faxed over stating it was reinstated. At the bottom it said I had coverage for the prior 2 years with 3 lapses. I covered the part about the lapses with whiteout, recopied it and you couldn't tell. I showed that to the clerk at the court and she dismissed it. I don't know how it works now with the insurance companies reporting directly to DMV though. I also got a friend out of one last year by adding his car to my insurance saying I purchased it 2 weeks earlier, they backdated the coverage and he showed that to the court. They dropped that one too.

Do not get in an accident because tehy will suspend your L's for a year. My buddy borrowed my car on his birthday Jan 15th 2001. I had coverage on the car but he had no coverage on anything. He totaled my car, had to pay 1K+ in fines and had his L's suspended for a year. Sucked for him and my car.

No they didnt write down a violation. i got insurance on my car 3 days before i totalled it, and they said if i didnt have insurance, it woulda been $1000 on on the spot with a suspended license and not to mention i have to pay for the tow truck and all the other fines they would throw at me. He said there not even taking the insurance thing lightly anymore. Its hella serious now.

yeah i photoshopped my moms insurance card and added her to the policy and made a copy of it, she showed it to the clerk at the office and we got a cop to sign off on the ticket and it was ok.

Oh yeah I remember now. It's $1000 if you get in an accident with no insurance. Someone ran a redlight hit me almost flipped me over then he took off. My car could not move. Someone chased them down and got their plate number. When the cops came the sited me for no insurance and I was slapped with $1000 fine, point on my record, no car and the cops tossed the dudes plate number and could have cared less.
